Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

They break if the cups they sit on are not cleaned from time to time, as stones and things collect there and slowly the springs crack.

I've driven 30k miles over 2 years and my springs are still not cracked.

I'm finding a lot of kilen springs, what's difference with these and ecp ones?
Also can I use the e46 springs? Or do they have to be e46 m3 springs?
What about convertible vs coupe as convertibles are heavier so would a convertible need a different stronger set of springs?
I cannot find the Sachs anywhere, tried europarts but couldn't see them after putting my reg in.

Thanks for helping

Where did you look? They're like the only ones available from ECP.

Get them from carparts4less (EuroCarParts sister website) for even less £117 for a pair using "CP15LESS":

 Old cars!

Looks like my headlamp washer pump is toast. I cannot hear the pump activate on the third stalk activation or long pull like it used to.

Luckily, the headlamp washer pump is attached to the washer fluid reservoir (same as the windscreen washer pump) so easy to get to, and they seem to be cheap.

I'll do a double check for the headlamp washer fuse before ordering.

I find headlamp washers to be fairly useless and just ruin a well washed car, if it ever got to the point I needed to clean the dirt from my headlights I'd stop following a rally car and head to the nearest car wash :p

I agree, but the headlamp washers have to work in order to pass MOT if the car has factory fitted Xenons!

I'm not convinced a lot of places check them - my car has passed it's last 2 MOTs at different places whilst having one of the front headlight washer jets missing. One of the test centres was notorious for it's strictness as well! I should really replace it at some point but it involves taking the bumper off and then taking the headlight washer system apart, and that's a lot of effort for something I don't use :p

Haha yes I imagine many places don't bother to check them, although that then poses the question, what else are they not checking?

I coded my headlamp washers to only activate every 5th pull of the stalk instead of the default 3, so this at least keeps the front end somewhat decent if I ever need to use the washers on the windscreen.

Thankyou

Further investigation and fuse checking on the headlamp washers revealed no fuse issue, and actually no pump issue...

Turns out the passenger side washer has no connection to the nozzle, or there's a hole in the plumbing there. Since the passenger side nozzle is bone dry, it can only be a loose connection. There's also a pool of washer fluid under the aero intake hole on the bumper.

I'll have to take the airbox out and investigate this weekend and see what's popped out.

My E46 did this exact thing, it'd empty the washer fluid in 2 squirts too. Never bothered to fix it as it coated the entire car every squirt
