Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Cheers! I've done it right if someone else can say that I guess :p

I can't help but think how much better the E46 looks without a front plate, had to re-attach the numberplate as the sticky pads weren't on properly and one side was loose, took the whole holder off to properly clean and use fresh pads:

Will we ever ditch the need for front plates!

P.S. Please excuse the dirt, not washed it since getting back from Stoke on Monday!

When the UK decides that plates aren't all that maybe, far too small over here to warrant even having one... especially on the bike (I did get pulled over last week for it point upwards though :p)

Front plates are so annoying, I would pay an extra tax not to have one.

Motorcycles don't have front plates, do they still get speeding tickets from front facing cameras?
I guess it is more work tracking them down to issue it.

Love it Mrk! Looks SO much better without the front numberplate. I do still need to stick mine back on but I might do away with the plinth it sits on and stick it directly to the bumper.

A white plate on the rear would reflect too much light back from the surface coating meaning more unwanted glare at night, yellow isn't ever going to change for the rear for UK cars sadly :(

Watch out as you will be curving the plate more as the plinth is flat but hugs the bumper curve on the inside! You'll need Unibond sticky fixer tape to hold the plate in place permanently! The 3M stuff is water resistant rated but Unibond is completely waterproof according to the blurb. Interesting to see how it looks though so please post a pic when done :)

I do think the plinth adds a bit of separation though, which is nice, otherwise it might end up looking like those Alfas and Subarus with the plate directly stuck on to the front bumper :o

They don't need to have them with the reflective surface though do they?

Lettering on the plate must be black on a white or yellow reflective background. With this EU format, vehicles are no longer required to carry an international code plate or sticker for traveling between member states. The non-EU states of Switzerland, Norway and Turkey also recognise the blue strip instead of the traditional white oval with the country code in black.

I quite like having a numberplate. I think, from a design point of view, that it adds contrast. It's like when people debadge their car completely or when they make their entire car black (black wheels, tinted window, black grilles etc) - it looks rubbish because there is no contrast.

I don't think the car looks bad without a front numberplate, but think it looks better with one.

A personalised plate yeah I can agree there!

This morning I noticed that my rear numberplate is aligned a couple of mm off on the right side so isn't perfectly straight!

Arse :S
