Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Haha good man! Looking forward to comparing differences since the Z4M has a different exhaust configuration next-next meet for sure then :p

Yeh we can see if their is any difference in sound.

3-4 day lead time so it should be here Friday or Monday. I did say if they can make it Friday that would be awesome so I have it for the meet coming up.

Warranty company are all good with it as well which is handy.

Thing is the CSL wheels, diffuser, brakes etc are genuinely decent upgrades without making the standard car look like it wants to be a CSL. The bootlid tips the scale in my view.

I think the standard boot lid looks perfectly fine and modern with the lip spoiler installed.

CSL brakes are definitely not decent upgrades. They are just as poor as the standard brakes.

are you able to request your repairer lets you take some photos of the repair in progress.

I know if I was buying a Cat D, seeing some photos of the damage and what was done to repair it etc.. would probably be quite comforting. Just a thought that's all, I might be on my own in thinking that.

Good stuff! I added the Eventuri to my insurance just now, an extra £20.83. Not too shabby. As far as premium increase goes from all this, no increase. As far as Elephant are concerned, they just want the new MOT number once it has been done and that's it

Aye, the photos were actually his idea and I'm going round each stage to take photos. Tonight will be the first.

I meant the discs, the callipers are the same, just discs are bigger.

Most people buying these 'BBK's are doing so purely because it looks proper wikid so for that purpose they are probably as good as any.

When mrk first mooted the idea of a BBK he also said 'refurbishing' his original calipers was another option, and it turned out that by 'refurbish' he meant 'paint so they look pretty' :p

No that is not what I said at all. Mission motorsport down here will strip the calliper down, clean it, sand blast it and powder coat it. I have opted for matte black. Simply painting over the crud built up over the past 10 years is quite a silly idea.

The BWMP brakes are well worth the money. It cost me around £1300 all in and the difference is night and day between these and the CSL/CS brakes. You need CSL wheels next.

CSL wheels are certainly on the cards. BMWP once the PFC pads and OEM discs are in need of changing!

Car was at the garage next door to the bodyshop having the exhaust hanger sorted, it's a bit naked at the back and got a good look at what stages it will go through.

^ The green is the panel that will be cut out and replaced. Cut, weld, flatten, treat and prep. The blue is the heatshield and boot floor area. New heat shield and crash panel where the bumper fits onto being installed and the boot floor first wall area will be re-shaped back to normal.

Why would it? If it's done properly it will not be noticeable. It's what BMW would be doing the same way anyway and common on rear ended crash repairs.

Exactly. Confirmed by Neil at Partridge BMW Bodyshop in Winchester if you still can't believe it. How do you think corroded rear arches are repaired? The rotting part is cut out and a new section welded in, flattened and painted with no sign of being cut. Same deal here.

No, the whole rear of the car isn't stamped out of one bit of metal.

That part of the car will consist of (as a minimum) two stamped side profiles, a back boot section and the floorpan (which will be in multiple sections).

Shows how much i know about car construction :p

You would have thought that BMW would replace in sections, then
