Bought an old BMW M3, filled with regret...

Take a look on the inside of the rear bumper if you poke your head under with a torch and see

But the airbox is a 45~ min job to install so not a major deal top put back to stock I suppose either.

It is if you stop and have a 20 minute cup of tea halfway through. :p It's a doddle to return it to standard. The only bit that would be a bit griefy is removing the airscoop, as when it goes in, it's very well secured.

Car looking good mrk.

Why is the quality approval sticker on the boot lid from 'GREAT BEAR' or something?

I thought you were using genuine BMW parts?

Also the bumper isn't made of carbon fibre surely

Thankfully in the Z4M the air scoop is much easier by the looks of things then the M3 version so should be even quicker.

Distribution company for BMW parts from 5 seconds of google.

Just the distro firm yeah. They were bought via Snows. and in in standard fashion, BMW didn't include some parts with the panel so bodyshop were endlessly trying to reach someone in the parts dept to find out what was going on yesterday. All sorted now though.

Yeah the bumper bar bit that attaches onto the bumper and fixes the lot onto the panel. Assembled the lot appears to be made up of plastic/cf/fibre glass?

Seeing the car 100% stone chip free will be quite nice. The front wings collect so many little stone chips it's unreal. The dark paint shows them up too easily. I will never buy a dark coloured car again that's for sure.

Not gonna lie, it gives wood when it looks like new!

Titanium Silver was amazing. Even when it was dirty and stone chipped it looked like new. But silver is just too bland now. I think whatever I get next has to be a non standard colour. BMW Individual? :D

Carbon Black when clean is mint in the right light.

That's lovely.

What would a buyer expect to pay for a good condition one nowadays?

Depends where you buy, Hexagon will only stock real low milers in near new condition, so will cost accordingly.

There are 69 convertibles on sale on PH right now ranging from £7k to £28k.

Ones that appear to be in decent conditon going by the pictures and in the 60-80lk mile range aged 2003-2005 seem to have anywhere from £10k-13k asking prices. The only ones I have seen on sale that are in better condition (going by the pics) than mine are the ones that are ultra low miles and they are ultra high priced! I have not check AT or anywhere else though.

5 years warranty on workmanship inc the paint. If it was done via the 3rd party insurer through BMW then that would have been 5 years as well. So no real difference here.

It's sad a lot of them have been ruined by chavs. :(

Is the coupe worth more than the cabriolet?

The E46 M3 is certainly something I think about buying at times, but I'd need to find a very good one, that had been looked after properly.
