Brazilian Grand Prix 2010, Interlagos Circuit - Race 18/19

I'm looking but not everything is uploaded. if you watched the after race commentary. Horner confirmed they would switch.

Tbh, even if they say it, I will be very surprised if Vettel carries it out.
And tbalsoh, it kinda flies in the face of everything that Horner was complaining about when Ferrari did the same in Germany. Regardless of when it takes place, they will still constitute team orders and a manipulation of results.

Is F1 forum on btw?

Horner said RBR would do whatever needed to make one of their drivers champion, but he said it in a way which confirms they would switch sv/mw

Apart from massive difference FIA have now pretty much said team orders are allowed and horner will only do it based on mathematical reasons. which is why it didn't happen today.

Again statistics don't matter.

Evidently they do since I am assuming you are using the 7 point difference between Webber and Vettel as your basis of comparison that Webber is the superior driver over the course of the season. Points are still a statistic.

And yet it was ironic that Horner was one of the key figures who we're firmly dead set against team orders when it happened. And still was after the fine was given out (and Im sure there are news articles to this).

Just hypocritical imho.

A rule which happens to be statistic that is the only bases for the Championship. non of the others are.

And that is exactly the reason why I would want to see Alonso win the title.

Too often, mediocrity is rewarded...something which I detest.

IMO, Alonso has been the driver of the season and for this reason, I would much rather see Alonso win, than Webber or Vettel.

Vettel has been very very fast, but has suffered terrible luck. If anybody should come second it should be him. Webber is an average driver who has had very good luck throughout the season. It is this great luck which has allowed him to stay near the top of the WDC. Had Vettel not suffered so many car failures, he would've won the title by now. In fact, had Vettel's car not broken down 2 weeks ago, he would've been leading the title race today.

Webber is nothing more than Vettel's whipping boy and whipping boys should not be WDCs. If Webber wins the title, his name will not sit well amongst the likes of Alonso, Hamilton, MSc, Senna, Prost, Mansell, etc. Webber just doesn't belong with these big names.

why couldnt webbers name sit with hamilton ? hamiltons name is only there because glock let him past, hardly heroic, winning the title by what, a point and someone letting them through. webbers name would sit just as well, of course senna etc. is another story.

congrats to rb, fully deserved... hope webber wins the title now.

awesome drive by jenson today, most intelligent driver on teh grid. from 11th to 5th and only a tenth of a second behind lewis at the end.

Proves all the doubters wrong that Jenson couldnt match lewis over the course of a season doesnt it ?

and to think that jenson could still finish in front of lewis at the end of the season...

I'm a big fan of lewis and jenson but I'm glad jens has proved he's no walk over that everyone had him pinned down for.

also i think jenson has been unluckier this season than hamilton - with monaco and spa etc. he just needs to sort his qualifying out because his race pace and head are there.

LOL

Scathing comment from DC at Eddie there.

'Did you keep your trophies or sell them when you got rid of all your other stuff?'

Someone needs to tell Alonso that it's not Hunkelberg.

Liked that story from Newey about having to go to a stewards meeting half cut aswell, class.

Moot. The fact remains you are still basing your comparison purely on one statistical fact. And its clearly not as simple as that, as other factors must be taken into consideration as well.

E.g. 2007. Ferrari we're not the better team, but they benefited from squabling Mclaren team mates, one cant say Kimi was the better driver that season as that would be utter tripe.

E.g. 2008. Hamilton (whether you like it or not) lucked into the WDC when he overtook a slow Timo Glock on the last lap. The points paint a picture, but not the entire picture.

People are saying that Alonso is now the best driver on the grid at this time. People seem to forget the catastrophic mistakes he made at the beginning of the season, let alone being gifted 7 points, which ironically would have only put him 1 point ahead of Webber and which would have meant that Webber and Vettel would have to genuinely race and whoever came first would win.

Yes he did.

Red Bull are playing a dangerous game though, by not allowing Webber to win today they're gambling on being 1-2 and not suffering any retirement, if either one of their cars conk out or if they aren't first and second Alonso will be favourite given how bad McLaren are lately.

They let Vettel win today hoping that Alonso will retire next race so Vettel can take the title (if he wins).

Precisely! I thought the same today.
