Brazilian Grand Prix 2012, São Paulo - Race 20/20

I (as a lotus fan) Would prefer grojean in the car.
I think his errors can be corrected. He has the talent.. More so than KK.

The race ban was a culmination of several incidents, where lighter penalties have had no effect (as a deterrent to stop his careless driving)

Vettel isn't consistently taking people out.

I don't think it was in all honesty, at that time we were talking about Maldonado hitting everything that was moving but Grosjean, despite having multiple incidents, people weren't really talking about at that stage. That crash honestly was so bad and so unbelievably reckless, stupid and ENTIRELY avoidable, that anyone would have gotten a straight ban for that, for me I still think he deserved at least a 2 race ban, drivers could easily have died in that incident, for nothing more than pure and complete stupidity.

It was really after his ban(and helped by Maldonado having less incidents, well less completely mental ones), that when he further hit people the opinion on him started to turn. I think if he'd had another crash like the Spa one he'd have potentially lost that licence. I think ultimately his attitude after that race was what wound me up and made me really dislike the guy, seemed to be trying to pass the buck, like it wasn't really his fault, he couldn't have known Hamilton was there. If he'd held his hands up, said sorry, it was terrible and he'd never do it again I could have understood but he barely seemed to acknowledge it was his fault.

No point him being at Lotus, seriously that car was pretty good this year, Kimi in 3rd is pretty epic considering how good the Mclaren, Red Bull were, he shouldn't have come close to 4th let alone getting 3rd. Grosjean hitting everyone in a great car that was capable of doing that much better is embarrassing.

He's embarrassing the team, he's a liability, they should get shot. Half the grid is starting to hate him, they all seem to think he's a bit of a joke now, they all realise he's done this before F1, and he's costing the team points and money.

I wouldn't even give him an HRT drive, mostly considering how many races it actually finished and how slow it was, finishing and being on track was the only thing it had going for it, Grosjean would even screw that up.

Wow, we have very different views on the subject!

Very much so! Lotus would probably have been 2nd in wcc! :-\

I'm not sure about that.

The Lotus was the 4th best car this year and Kimi did an unbelievable job to score as many points as he did. My gut tells me that even if Alonso was driving that car, he would've struggled to score as many points, mainly because Kimi was very lucky to finish every GP (You need a lot of luck to finish every GP).

Some people are underestimating just what Kimi managed to do this year. It was truly outstanding.

What exactly brings you to the conclusion that the lotus was the 4th best car this year? Looking at quali results, Grosjean put the lotus in the top 5 on 7 occassions. To put this in perspective, Lewis managed it 14 times, seb managed it 10 times, and Alonso managed it 4 times.

edit: what I find impressive is alonso finishing 70 points ahead of kimi in what I consider roughly equivalent machinery despite kimi's perfect record on finishing races.

The FIA themselves confirmed it was because of the number of accidents in their statement about his race ban.

And that he took out world championship contenders.

If it had been Senna and Perez, I suspect he would have just for another grid drop.

That was quite a worrying comment in the FIA decision. It's ok to take out anyone other than a championship contender.

Yeah I thought that too. They seemed to make a point out of who it was that he crashed into, rather than just the fact he caused a bloody big crash.

Makes it sound like you could ram HRTs off the track and actually be rewarded for it.

The Ferrari car was a better race car. While Lotus may have been a slightly better qualifying car.

Ignore Alonso and look at Massa's performance. You will see in the last quarter of the year, he was doing pretty well in races.

kimi seemed very conservative imo there were times during races where grosjean made him look like a sunday driver if you were watching live timing
