Brazilian Grand Prix 2012, São Paulo - Race 20/20

To be fair to Benson, being the chief F1 journo for BBC Sport he has to write these articles. People read them and are interested in them. I don't see the problem with him reporting from his sources.

With the use of lights, due to increased visibility, the track can be divided up into fewer sectors as line-of-sight is not always needed between them. At Interlagos, there were 22 marshals' posts while the FIA installed 16 light panels, which means there was overlap in places. The warning lights are also linked to the display in the cockpit.

Surely this needs rectifying? Why not have the same number of lights and marshalls posts and them next to eachother? Overlapping lights is bound to cause controversy.

Agreed. There should be marshal lights and transponders at every marshal post.

Flags would still be the primary, but that way the benifits of the lighting systems (easily visible on TV and in poor light, correspondence with the dash lights, electronic tracking, etc) could correspond with every single flag.

The lights are a fairly new thing, hopefully the will roll them out to every post in the future. It certainly makes sense.

Feel this may be the outcome of the clarification, more lights and adjacent to the marshall's post.

I did not get the full picture until i saw this which (now that the tachometer is removed) clearly shows your marshall waving a green.

As others have said, think it is time that this moved on, but will be an ongoing mass debate about this for a few days yet until the FIA make an official statement on it.

PS - William Hill arent getting their money back either...you paid me and I have spent it :p

Your bet is safe, the podium presentation is the bookies' settled result on the race and vhampionships. Any further imvestigations are ignored. I doubt anyone who backed the runner up in the 2002 tour de france is after a payout :p

I have a healthy dislike for Benson, he posts some proper tripe.

people finally realising hes an opinionated anus that cant write an unbiased news piece ?

I remember when one of his articles had about 200 comments flaming him :D he had to turn comments off for a few weeks lol

Can someone explain to me why when FatJohn cut up someone in Belgium on the first lap, and took out several cars, he gets a race ban. Vettel does a similar thing in Brazil and takes out two cars, and he doesn't even get investigated?
It is not as though he doesn't have priors for cutting up people (on Webber in Turkey 2010 for example).

Maybe they should give Vettel a 1 race ban to start next season :p:p:p

The race ban was a culmination of several incidents, where lighter penalties have had no effect (as a deterrent to stop his careless driving)

Vettel isn't consistently taking people out.

Just a thought as well... this should once and for all completely put to bed any speculation about Vettel heading to Ferrari in the near future, or complete future!
