I doubt they'd be ok with it. Didn't they flag it to the officials themselves? How did they know it was 0.2mm out? I've little doubt this whole thing was instigated by RB, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Mad Max bent it himself.
They were asking about something else to do with the rear wing, probably flexing.

If I understand it correctly, RBR's complaint prior to qualify was that the Merc's rear wing had excess flex above 260km/h — I'm not sure it was necessarily directly related to the DRS flap (unless the 'excess flex' above those speeds led to a bigger DRS envelope).

I think that's why Max touched the wing, it was just a coincidence that the FIA then found the DRS gap issue in scrutineering.

Imo that drs thing was ridiculous and the fia should not have disqualified him, 0.2mm on just one part of the wing is a joke and the measurement is probably not that accurate.
What's more is if the fia had accepted it for the reasons that it was a small amount in a small area and likely caused by damage, I'm sure even RB would have been ok with it.

That gets the "biggest pile of nonsense I've read this week" award.

The rules are the rules. There's a special tool and the force measurement removes any suggestion of inaccuracy. As for Karen Horner being OK with letting Merc off anything that could gain RB an advantage, I've not laughed so hard in weeks.

Biggest risk for Lewis today is the start, he's right in the scrum in the middle. Needs to keep out of trouble even if he doesn't make many places he'll get by once things settle down so doesn't need to go mad.

Staying up for this one. Didn't bother watching the sprint yesterday, but that speed difference the Merc has is insane, from the highlights.
I hope we don't see any of the big names wiped out today.
