Both very fair penalties IMO. No politics being played for the spectacle.
Shame though as was looking forward to seeing the Max, Lewis battle with Bottas and Perez in the mix too in terms of strategy.
I wonder whether Hamilton will just park it and they replace a load of parts.
he should easily be able to get past more then 5 cars today, id hope he got well into the top 10, then tomorrow it will be a long run on hard tyres to get from 15 to top 5 id say. still a major hit to his chances this year.Lewis should in my view definitely box and retire at end of lap 1. Why put stress on the new engine as he won't make up enough places to mitigate the ICE penalty.
Haha give over. Hamilton fanboys run amok in ocuk. It’s against the rules to touch a competitor’s car when it’s in its final race setup, so yes any driver should be given an penalty, the Hamilton hate on here is unreal.

not want an intentional crash, but would be fun for us if max had a tap and broken front wing or something like that.
Yep, you can’t really argue with the Hamilton penalty. No matter the reason, it failed the test. If anything, you could argue Max’s punishment was harsh.
The sad thing is, the decision robs us of an interesting battle at the front, both for the sprint and the race tomorrow.
TBH, it’s a good job it was picked up at the end of qualifying, you can imagine the uproar if his car wasn’t chosen for testing at the end of qualifying and instead chosen for testing at the end of the race after he had possibly won the race, at least he has a chance now to make up places. The Sporting Regulations breach penalty for Max is both fair and a shot across other driver’s bows as they’re perceived to have got “too handsy” with competitor’s car this season.
Technical Regulations by Merc is a something of an own goal as their telemetry must have captured the difference between expected and recorded downforce during FP1 if some failure of a DRS component was allowing the wing to open beyond its normal limit.
Doubt it, if he could get up to 5th or 6th today puts him in a good place to finish on podium tomorrow. But needs bottas to get ahead at the start. Merc was much faster on the straights so should enable ham to do some overtaking.
Aye, they had the perfect opportunity to do so after bottas opened the door for max when they both started from the back of the grid a few races agoBottas will likely end up several places back at the start. So frustrating they didn’t stick Russell in that car sooner.
Tbf Lewis messed up in Azerbaijan, should have cleared 25 points there, but anyway.Yep Merc screwed this season up
