Breaking Bad Season 5 - Part I

That's really what makes this show special; demonstrating how the "noble" (if you want to call it that) intentions of Walt have been smashed to pieces by his own ego.

... The road to Hell is paved with good intentions :)

And yes - I agree with pretty much everything you have said :) The interesting thing for me is trying to determine exactly where he crossed "the line". A point of no return, if you like...

It's fairly clear that, this season, he has crossed that line. He didn't *need* to keep cooking meth, but he chose to. In series 4 he was very much under Gus's thumb, and trying to escape with his life, so it's a little easier to forgive his "sins". But if we go a little further back, he wasn't forced to take up Gus' super-lab offer (though unbeknownst to him it saved his life from "the twins"), and he did so largely to spite Jesse who was branching out on his own with the blue meth.

That's another thing I like about the show - it's so morally ambiguous that it's difficult to pull out all the threads, even with the benefit of careful hindsight.

I'm really glad they're making Todd have more air time. Jesse Plemons is a fantastic actor and I loved him in Friday Night Lights.

Oh my god @ the ending of episode 5! Didn't expect that.

Breaking Bad is brutal! Also I really enjoyed that episode! Such a good idea

I can see those bugs planted biting Walt in the ass, it's like he's setting himself up lol

Not seen ep 5 yet so perhaps I need to get into it but I'm not enjoying the dark side shown in this series.

Sopranos was great because whilst the characters were ****s you could still empathise with them, don't get that feeling with anyone but Hank.

Hmm you're probably not going to like ep5 then.

This show just couldn't get any more incredible. I honestly don't think it would be anywhere near as good with any other musical score. The atmosphere is tripled as soon as the music kicks in during tens moments and just completes the whole package.

It really is one of my Top 3 shows of all time.

Yes some characters are questionable (Skyler now) but none of them matter when you're presented with the main characters and then the music that accompanies them.

I love amazing sounds and music in film and TV and this pleases me tenfold.

Yeah, I don't know what to say to someone that already thought it was too dark :p.

:(

I guess it is what it is. I'll stick with it, as unpleasant as it may be.

I think we all know how this is going to end, it's just a matter of by what means.

I really hope Walt doesn't kill Hank at some point in the future :\

I was wondering where that kid on the bike would come into it and, I expect like a lot of people, forgot about him as the episode went on. Is this the turning point for Jesse? Will this send him back down the drugged up path and make him the, eventual, catalyst for whatever ending the series finally has? I hope so.

And that's what makes it great. It's engaging on a perverse level.

I didn't find the ending all that crazy, it was pretty obvious that he couldn't get away.

True. I guess I can sort of empathise with Jesse so perhaps it's not all too dark on that front. Skylar can be annoying but I do feel sorry for her.

Wasn't so much that it was obvious, more that I think we all forgot about the kid from the start of the episode.
