Man of Honour
Sleepy said:Shame its the minority view in the police force, none of the serving officers I or my brother are friends with want an armed constabulary as a matter of course. That includes the ex firearms officer.
So the ones who do should be ignored ?
The fact is that there are firearms held illegally on the street and the reponse officer is not equipped to deal with that threat. He or she relies on an ARV often miles away.
I know 2 lads who do the ARV's and one would wish the police to be armed and the other wishes not.
Interesting enough, the one who doesn't wish to see it happen quotes excessive accountability and Human rights legislation as the main reason. This country has baton gunners and taser operators as less than lethal force, then firearms as a final resort. Cops who fire fatal shots are often left to it with little support for their actions, and like any other person, they are capable of mistakes and without a shred of malice too.
