Brendan Rodgers sacked - If you're happy and you know it KLOPP your hands !!!

Tactically inept? I wish Everton could get someone so rubbish to get our team to within a game of the title. His part in that season is now being conveniently being glossed over.

Is he not taking any blame for the pathetic collapse since the loss to Manchester United last season?

Chelsea are in an interesting situation. I believe a that if in their next run of matches there is not a dramatic improvement (not just results, but performances) 'the special one' will be on his way.

Then the situation gets interesting, Klopp would potentially be available; which is why this situation becomes more interesting as Chelsea might not want to 'miss out' on him.

I am not convinced Guardiola is staying or leaving. I would be extremely shocked if he was to become Chelsea manager though.

I said before in a semi joke and semi serious way, that if one of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool fired their manager attempting to get Klopp in but one of the others then did the same and nabbed Klopp it would be freaking hilarious.

I could actually see Wenger doing it but not sure about Klopp. I think Klopp is somewhat of the perfect successor to 97-05 Wenger, less ultra possession too often toothless 05-present Wenger. But if someone like him would only be available now he might have the sense to step down to secure the right successor rather than wait another year or two and not have the same kind of manager to take over.

I could see Simeone being the next manager Chelsea go after, producing a strong defence, good counter attack, generally overall a very solid team. Don't know that Simeone would consider leaving in the middle of the year though.

Not sure what Chelsea would do if they did let Mourinho go in the short term, look for a interim manager till end of season then go after someone like Simeone I'd guess.

Liverpool are playing it smart making a move early if that is the best way to get Klopp. IIRC he did say he wanted a year out so they may have spoken to him in summer, been unable to get him so stuck with Rodgers. Maybe they asked Klopp again with the team playing poorly and Klopp has had enough of sitting at home.

No one has forgotten that season, but we actually won **** all, 2nd place is nothing. As good as that 1 season was the bulk of his tenure was dissapointing and he did set some pretty horrific records. Worst league start in over 50 years, 1st manger in 50 years to win nothing in his 1st 3 seasons. His inability to organise a defence cost him in the end - that and he just couldnt keep his mouth shut.

Well past time to move on and thankfully we have.

I dont think Pardew is remotely rubbish just look at how Newcastle are in free fall since he left, palace are also playing some great stuff. Massively underrated.

You have him then!

Plus he started the free fall and flirting with relegation, it hasn't got better since but it isn't much worse either!

Seen a couple of tweets saying it'll be announced tomorrow. I'll take it with a pinch of salt but they were the ones "confirming" he was getting sacked and that Klopp would be talked to and a deal quickly made even before the Everton match.

You can't just call clauses irrelevant when they're at the core of what you're saying.

I can?

You basically don't rate him so don't think anyone should commit to seven years...

That is basically it, yes.

but it's kinda important if clauses mean they're not actually committed, 'cause then it just means it's a symbolic act more than anything.

Why would you 'symbolically' give Pardew a seven year contract? What?

I understand totally what you're attempting to argue, that the seven years is not nearly as bad / nor a huge gamble because removing managers is easy with the clauses.

I am saying that giving Pardew a seven year contract, at any club, any time, regardless of clauses is mental.

He did ~ok~ at Newcastle, but then when his head was turned (a big weakness that I have highlighted), Newcastle were terrible. He was not sacked (so there actually was no need for the clauses in the end), and moved to Palace. Newcastle have been in absolute free fall since, but it is not all down to Pardew leaving.

Palace are doing well, playing well under Pardew, however, in my opinion it is not going to last. He is already clearly under the impression that he is in contention for the England job. His head is starting to turn already.

I do not blame him for his head being turned, Palace was an improvement on Newcastle, England national coach is a big step up from Palace. He's perfectly fine in the short term but his sides drop off considerably, he cannot cope with long term, sort of similar to Mourinho, although with considerably less talent and just as big ego.

Well, they weren't committed to that length of time if anything went wrong, so calling that mental is, err, mental.

That applies to every contract in football.

Giving Pardew a seven year contract is mental, yes :).

Back on topic.

I was hoping we'd get Klopp after LvG and short of his appointment being a disaster and then him having a pop at the Liverpool fans, he'll likely never manage us now.

I think he's a very good fit for Liverpool and a great guy, but I very much hope the 'transfer committee' make an absolute mess of everything for him. :p

Be interesting to see him in the league nevertheless.
