BRINK

People have reported getting steambanned for doing it yes.

My housemate said our copies have just arrived, can't play it till 1am though :<

Seems you can pick this up for £22 atm, or less than £21 with a discount code.

Its getting tempting... but I don't wanna get it only to find out my pc sucks too much to run it at a decent FPS.

Wow thats the most i have ever been quoted.. may have to troll more often :D

Blaming the dev's is all good and well but considering there are two major graphics cards suppliers, a handful of different card types you wouldn't expect them to forget to check the game works so often!

What consequences? Has anyone ever actually had an issue from doing the VPN trick?

I've done it quite a few times to unlock (Fallout:NV) a game early. Never had a problem and from what i've read on here and the Steam forums there's nothing in the ToC's that prohibits using a VPN to unlock early.
You do give up logging into Steam until it's actually released in your region though, so it's not always worth it.

Still havent recieved my key from D2D, had to install that crap comrade just to download the file, though it doesnt seem to like edge detect in cat drivers, crashes the gfx driver.

According to the support page...

Attention Direct2Drive UK BRINK Buyers:

We are aware of an issue with using your key if located outside the UK. We are working with Bethesda to resolve this.

You WILL get a key and download soon!

There is still plenty of time to download and get ready for May 13th!

The release date has not changed, please check the Product page on Direct2Drive. Preorder Bonus keys will be released at that time.

Whether or not they actually get their bums in gear and sort it out I've no idea though...

Been that message on the support page for a few days now, was hoping to get the key and pre load on steam but since it 'unlocks' at 1 am had to take the plunge and use comrade and hope the keys are emailed out before that.

It isnt atis fault devs just dont bother to make games that work with their cards. I've got a 5850 and couldnt be happier with it.

Blame rests fully with Ati/amd actually for not advancing there opengl support and sorting out there substandard support of that api been like that since old quake days .

Sure the game has its issues "like random loss of sound" but the ones seen on Ati are drivers at fault .

I wish I had started downloading a while back now. I'd been holding out for a key to start the pre-load through Steam.

I think with the pathetic speeds I'm getting from the D2D client it would still be quicker to wait for the key and start the DL again on Steam.

Might be worth trying another download from them, I just started downloading the 5.07GB's again and @ 980kbs it says 1hr 30mins to go.
*Edit. Maybe you didn't leave the little black popup box, link to your download open. :p I really won't download slower if I close it will it? :D
