Lots of threads, pretty much exclusively caused by ATI graphics cards (no specific card or series).

Extremely low fps on high end hardware (people getting 15 fps on 69** cards with min settings), grid lines everywhere (think is 4xxx series) and won't start at all due to openGL related errors with fully updated drivers.

Their official acknowledgement of the issue
"For the AMD graphics card owners out there, make sure you’ve installed the latest AMD video drivers as that will solve a fair few of the visual and performance issues out there."

Many have reported the 11.15.a hotfix making it worst.

So yeah I'm not buying until it's all fixed.

Could be a fix right here - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1884360

Could do with knowing if anybody on here has had this problem and if this fix, or any others, work.

Just tried that, even though I already had the:- seta r_useOptimizedShadows 1
in my autoexec.cfg, (Maybe the BrinkConfig.exe. I'm using put it there.) anyway I copied his config exactly and no change for me, fps solidly stuck 29-45 no matter what settings.

Brink update information from dev's, only quoting PC relevant parts, there's PS3 and Xbox 360 stuff also.

Paul Wedgwood (Brink Game Director) said:
PC Update

On the PC side, we’re pleased to report that we’ve put together our first game update, bringing two immediate improvements to Brink:

It greatly enhances the crash reports we’re getting through Steam, with more detailed information coming our way from now on. While this doesn’t sound very exciting for you as a player, it’s really useful for the Brink team as it’ll allow us to track down the underlying issues much more quickly and work on fixes for them – particularly stability issues relating to compatibility.

This update also fixes an issue where closing the game before getting to the character selection screen can corrupt your character data and make it unusable. Until the game update comes out, we strongly recommend not shutting Brink down during start-up to avoid this issue altogether.

Better yet, this update has just hit Steam and you can download it by simply signing into your Steam client.

In other PC news, we’ve also been working closely with the guys over at Bethesda Softworks to identify and solve any hardware compatibility issues that people have been reporting. For the AMD graphics card owners out there, make sure you’ve installed the latest AMD video drivers as that will solve a fair few of the visual and performance issues out there. Similarly, if you have an NVIDIA card and are experiencing issues with the game, make sure you’ve got the latest NVIDIA video drivers installed.

The next game update for the PC version is already in the works, and includes a fix for the FOV issue some of you have been reporting on the forums, among several other things. We’ll have more information to share on that soon.

Well after a few hours of playing against bots I really can see that this game could be great online. There are really great moments, but also problems.
The main issue for me is the AMD GFX card issue, i have a 6950 and everything can be going great, then suddenly i'll hit an area of the map that just seems to bog it all down.
Parkour, brilliant some of the time but at other times it just doesn't work how you want it too. It maybe just down to me to get used to it, as it's nice being gable to slide around a corner out of enemy fire after being knocked down by a grenade.

Still looking forward to Friday to give this game a proper try over the weekend.

Such a shame they didn't test the PC version properly, I mean come on launch day performance issues!?... I've turned though, pre-ordered my copy today hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. Guys add me on steam: elrasho24

When I get this just going to chuck in my ETQW autoexec :D

BTW why is everyone against the "lone-wolf"?? I used to play as a rambo medic in ET and ETQW all the time. I own though so no problem :p

Yeah I wouldn't mind trying your ETQW config too, could you post it please?

Meanwhile I'll try some of these fixes.

Yeh sure... It might be quite late tonight as I am out, but I will definitely do it.. it is now on my to-do list ;)

In the meantime just have a search for ETQW autoexec in Google. Most of the good resource sites have gone (checked them in my bookmarks), but still some example ones left.

Will post back soon with set of past cvars etcs

Dunno how ATI get away with this.. Seems pretty much every new game out there ATI have issues for the first few weeks of the game... glad i buy NVIDIA so i can actually play my games :D

Sweeping statement alert! Don't think I've had a single problem with anything I've bought this year so far.

I haven't gotten brink yet mind you :p

It isnt atis fault devs just dont bother to make games that work with their cards. I've got a 5850 and couldnt be happier with it.

Their are plenty of games that have performace issues on day or release for example Black ops was rough as a badgers bum. However I will report what it is like for me and I feel ppl pain who are having issues s I have had them with previous games on launch day.

My copy might be arriving today, as it got dispatched yesterday, but probably will arrive tomorrow. I am worried about ATI issues now!!! I have a 6850! Grrrrr
