BRINK

i will be playing this at home tonight now i have a retail copy and i myself am an ATi user.

will see how it differs from my nvidia card i run it on at work.
 
Don't turn on ambient occlusion. Getting over 100fps all the time with it off. If I turn it on, I get around 30fps. Think they're shading each individual hair and all of the characters internal organs :S

Never noticed on my ATI card, only thing that causes massive FPS drops is shadows (turn off with r_shadows 0). I'm 30 - 60 FPS with or without stuff like Motion Blur, Ambient Occlusion, AF. Also FFFUUUU @ weapon attachments only coming from single player.

I keep reading that Homefront was overhyped and all that but although I follow gaming news, I never actually witnessed the (positive) hype myself. I followed the game closely and everything pointed to a game that will likely fail to deliver. None of the previews were very promising, no demo, very little gameplay videos, it all pointed to what we eventually got.

Now marketing Brink is tougher. The sales are done on consoles but the gameplay isn't something most console gamers enjoy. I'm enjoying the game right now but I know why many gamers get nothing out of it.

Its not TECHNICALLY singleplayer, it's just doing the challenges on your own, which are actually quite tough :mad:

Does anyone else find the bots aim abit ridiculous sometimes? Like seriously, run around a corner and BANG, some bot has done a 360 backflip headshot on me instantly.
 
think it was said that some challenges can only be finished with other players and not the BoTs, we'll have to organise a small 'Unlock Party' once everyone is up and running.

played roughly 5-6hrs so far and it just keeps getting better and better, love it !

First turn on in-game console. For this go to your steam library and find brink. Right click and choose properties. The on the General tab select SET LAUNCH OPTIONS and add this.

+com_allowconsole 1

Start up brink and open the console with tilde key, and type ‘r_shadows 0′ without quotes.

After this tweak. Download and install the latest ATI HotFix Drivers.
 
Im only missing 1 of the 3 stars, but its hard as the ally npcs are pretty crap, wont defend me while im planting or carrying the intel :(
Might be easier now that i have heavy or harder as cant take shortcuts to get to the objectives.

Yup played many hours on there, had some great vids from it too but I seem to have deleted them from my youtube account :(

Thanks its runnin much better now :) although the server search menu is pants can I cant connect 9/10 times saying server full when oly 2/16 people in there! oh adn 2 random crashes to desktop

did you install the hotfix over the 11.5 driver or did you uninstall the 11.5 driver first? Apparently 11.5a is its own driver?
 
Just played it with the Quadro 270.71 drivers and it crashed half way through a game whcih I was doing really well in as well...

I also noticed the search menu drops down to 8-9fps and its horrible choosing and scrolling for a server.

Just installed the Geforce 270.61 drivers to see if that stops the crashing.

This is with a GTX480 btw.

installed hotfix over 11.5, it shows 11.5a in the catalyst control centre. Its only when I turned shadows off that the FPS rockets upwards

It's in the main menu, just click Challenges and away you go, it'll tell you what you unlock. There's 3 tiers of each of the 4 challenges, and the first and second unlock stuff of each, but the third is only a leaderboard style time challenge so when you do 2 just cancel and do the others. Took me about an hour or so but got them all. They have some nice stuff, lots of weapon attachments and light body type.
 
Well just confirming that I'm still running the older cats 10.10.

I used this config maker now at version 1.3 to make an Autoexec file that you put in Brink's Base folder

Allows you to adjust game settings not accessible from the video options in game. On lag free servers I'm getting anywhere from 60-110 fps. :)

6gig Ram
i7 920 Oc to 3.8ghz
 
The part that makes me laugh is there are people asking how to get a 360 controller working on it...

Seriously do people want to get there ass handed to them?
