Britain secures agreement to join Indo-Pacific trade bloc

Still don't understand why 1000's of people are fleeing the EU every year across the channel to seek asylum. What is so bad about the EU for them to need asylum? Why do they want to come to a racist country? Why is the UK government helping to traffic them over? Mind Boggling!!!!
You do know more people claim asylum in France and Germany than in the UK right and this idea that everyone is bypassing Europe because the UK is such a soft touch is just yet another myth fed to you by the Tory government/press? Oh and that international law establishes the right of asylum seekers to pass through a safe country and apply for asylum in another?

If China joins them presumably it would have much more of an impact than it currently does to our economy

Yes, we've had incredibly cheap international shipping for years, I think I've got packages from China for about £0.01 postage. Also, one of the partners is Canada, which geographically isn't that far.
That China example is a one way deal. There is some international regulation that permitted cheap shipping from China (but not to). I think with China becoming richer as a country, that deal is coming to an end.

Yes, some claim asylum in the EU but you didn't answer my question.

No, think "Area where you have to back up your posts with facts and data".

Oh that's right, you can't post in there due to losing access for *checks notes* not backing up your trolling with facts and data.

That sounds like a GDPR breach lol.

Anyway what you really mean is 'Area where you have to back up your posts with alt 'facts' and 'data' from specific biased leftie sources' - an area which most members avoid like the EU plague.

Back on topic - how will this trade deal help that?

The EU is in decline whereas CPTTP is growing and will eclipse the EU in future from GDP perspective.

When in the future? Long after we're all dead? The UK Govt's own projections suggest that even in 10 years it will only add £1.8 billion to the economy, less than 1% and nowhere near what we've lost in EU trade.

Anti unionism in Scotland is declining - Sturgeon defeated and the SNP self destructing - DUP will be back to power sharing soon.

People conflating SNP support with "anti-unionism" - they aren't the same thing, SNP support has slipped but it largely seems to be going in the way of the also Pro-Indy Green's, Labour are picking up the vote share that the Tories are losing though.
The next Scottish Parliament election is in 2026 - Sturgeon will be long forgotten by then, the Gender Bill will be long forgotten as well.

Rejoiners will become irrelevant as CPTTP membership is completely incompatible with EU membership.

Maybe but a new government could can CPTTP membership in favour of EU membership if elected on that basis, and in the end the EU will sign a deal with them as well.

Labour win in the next election not the foregone conclusion it might have been a few months ago.

I do agree with you on this to be honest, I still don't know what Starmer stands for except "I'm not them" - I personally couldn't bring myself to vote for him. Some of the stuff the Tories are doing is red meat to their core voters and potentially a lot of Brexit voters who currently are thinking about going back to Labour.

I fail to see your point, they are not fleeing the EU they are passing through on the way to claim asylum in a safe country as is their right under international law, lots pass through Germany on route to France and the French don't seem to complain!

Thanks for that, kinda makes sense, seems others were struggling for anything to say.

My point in relation to this thread is that some are saying the EU is better and the UK is failing with pointless/useless trade deals, so why would people want to leave the EU.

Language, family ties, general preference, saying the UK is performing worse than the UK isn't the same as saying it is a third world hell hole nobody would want to come to. The EU is undoubtedly performing better than the UK post Brexit and pandemic to claim anything else is just silly and this new trade deal even by the governments own estimates isn't really very significant see my previous post on the subject!
