Being a SET, for 9 years now, (soon to be leaving) I think I can make a more educated guess at what's happening.
Trust me, a CES Eng is not a help desk operator. All depends on the unit you go to.
It's all network engineering now, be it sat as an admin on a network doing sharepoint and unlocking people's accounts or working directly with subcontracted companies solving problems on some very interesting comms circuits, the job is both challenging and rewarding.
Reason I'm leaving you ask; just don't enjoy the 'Army' side anymore.
Ah right, cheers for that, bit better than the information put up on the ArmyJobs website lol.
Thing is, there is another reason I'm moving away from the technician side. I'm not as 'into' computers as I used to be, not as much as I was when I was first in the Army in 2005(MD'd at the end of basic due to a hip injury ).
I want to be more exposed to the green side, something a bit more physically challenging. Where ever I end up I really want to do P-Coy and possibly the All Arms Commando Course, but we'll see heh.
