**British Armed Forces Discussion Thread**

I just called them. I have an information pack coming and I need to call up to arrange an interview once I have it. Apparently the application process can take around 9 months, so being 24 in 11 months, I need to get my arse in gear and sort it out.

I honestly could never see this happening, but it is a dream so we shall see. I am unfit now, so I guess I need to get down the gym and start sorting it out. How soon after the interview do you think the medical tests would start happening?

If you miss out on this try becoming a commercial pilot. CAA Class 1 medical is easy, had my ECG laying down ;)

A lot of truth in them images shame them RAF lads look to lame to take advantage of the situation. :p

The RAF and Navy dont seem to interest me at all, ive checked their websites and they dont seem to list a great deal of ICT jobs, it seems as if the whole ICT subject is done by just 1 or 2 different jobs, meaning little in the way of specialisation.

There is 1 thing about the Navy i think would be fun though, and thats if you are an officer and you are the one who gets to say on the louspeaker "battle stations, battle stations, set condition one throughout the ship!"

ScarySquirrel, added you to MSN to talk about this as I know quite a lot and I can't be arsed posting it all.

Short answer is it is very very difficult, but someone's got to succeed!

Go in to your local AFCO, have a chat with them, see what they say. They may be able to show you different options that may take your fancy. I found that online chat careers office thing crap tbh, not much help at all.

Hi mr Ghost hows your application going for the army:)

its 50 to be an officer and sit ups. level 10 on the bleep test and then 1 1/2 mile run in <10mins or so. other fitness things packed around these events to make sure its that little bit harder.

Do they asses you on form doing those movements? I've seen a lot of training videos online with guys doing sloppy push ups and sit ups and getting away with it.

Hey, ive just finished a BSc degree cant find a job and the RAF officer training is abour 2 miles away! Just wondering what is the actual acception rate of officer applications and what are the intake months etc???

Cheers :D
