Alright matey!

tearing up the beach bar every now and then lol, its not bad up here, bit crappy at time with just Elgin to keep me entertained but Im happy here.

how are you doing?

and I dont think It was me about a losnet account. Not that I remember most phonecalls anyway :)

Getting fit.. ter :)

I've been hitting the weights hard the last month or 2, when I get back next week I'll be caning the cardio and 1.5mile runs.

Got a pre entry development day the day after my oath, which is basically a way for the recruiter to see where people are fitness wise and a general heads up on phase 1. So aiming to impress on that day too

You said you have 39 days to Basic, I assumed that was basic training and you'd be deploying oversees shortly after that. Or have I confused myself?

Depends what you go in as, I'm learning a trade so takes longer.

Everyone does an initial 14week basic training, but even then Infantry still do longer training after 14weeks.

Yeh, 14weeks basic, 9weeks combat engineer, then 30/40 trade training.

Obviously there will be time between each stage so not sure how long it will be

As far as I'm aware, obviously I don't know exactly how it all works till I do it

So has there been any hard info on how the armed forces are going to cut spending due to the budget cuts? I'm interested to know how it will effect recruitment, I know that the armed forces is already at/near capacity so I would expect recruitment to take even long or simply start turning away lots of people.

Find out in October

I had no idea it took that long to train a soldier.

I'm coming to the end of my training, I started in 3rd of May... 2009 lol. Off to Germany in a few months, can't wait to get there, then Afghan in Nov 2011.

Depends on what trade you go for, but you can expect to be in training for at least a year with a lot of trades, if you include basic training and what not.
