exactly - they (Ferrari) are argueing over semantics

both the team and Alonso should have known to give the place back immediately - but were too stubborn to do so, they (both) got what they deserved
 
Doesn't change the fact that Alonso ought to have known he should give the place back, mind.

Spot on, they were given Charlies point of view in a lap. To me thats reasonably quick in the world of the FIA. Its not instant but what on earth were they hoping for? Appears that they were not getting the view/answer they were hoping for which would go some way to explaining the "We can't give it back, Kubica is too far behind and there another car infront of him" line after the third contact between themselves & Charlie. Still its done now & the only available punishment was given. Lesson learnt (hopefully).
