Shouldn't taking so much space on a grid slot be worth more than a 5 second penalty, getting an extra place or two down the first straight is worth WAY more than 5 seconds advantage. Plus, further back down = more charging Alonso

Really? Can't recall seeing an F1 car in reverse. Either way I assume there is some rules or some such stopping cars from reversing. Over running grid position has happened many times before, I have never seen a car be able to correct it before the race starts.

edit: As has been pointed out, I'm a dope. Clearly there is reverse as Rosberg used to great effect at Monaco.

If Hamiilton finishes 2nd, there's only a 36 point difference between him and Rosberg, so it'll still be anyone's championship.

Having your car in reverse when everyone else around you is starting and going forward sounds like a potential disaster so I wouldn't be surprised if its banned.

It would mean Nico could finish 2nd behind Lewis for 4 races and still be infront. It's a huge advantage.

The double points race at the end of the season really makes it interesting though. If Rosberg slips up or has a failure at all in that race it could cost the entire championship. Not that I agree with it though, that double points race is such a farce.
