British Superyacht sinks off Siciliy

That’s the most underwhelming “super” yacht I’ve ever seen.
it's not a barge like most of the ones you can see berthed up in Monte-carlo/antibes it has/d sails.

I think there's much simpler ways to accident somebody you don't like than literally making storms and tornados in the Med
cloud seeding ? like deployed at olympics opening
I was trying to think of a more classical wrath of the Roman gods incident than concordia I guess diddums ref'd to.

------

Autonomies CFO was obviously imprisoned - which did sound akin Trump with his lawyer taking the fall, but as to why the autonomy technology was revalued at a fraction of original 9bn,
was there a surprise market disruptor.

Dunno what some of you are on about. A 56m yacht is pretty big.

Obviously the scale gets distorted by knowing that the largest private yachts are floating hotels a third of the tonnage of the Titanic.

As I said earlier, the guy was a crook. HP wasn't completely blameless though, their legal and financial teams displayed sheer negligence with the deal - a few firings and booting of the CEO, but doesn't return any of the wasted billions.

Not at all suspicious that Mike Lynch's co-defendent Stephen Chamberlain was run over on Saturday...

There are such things as coincidences, but I think the conspiracy theorists might be on to something with this one tbh!

Edit: ah see I'm very slow with the news. BBC had it up as new story lol
Still, +1 for the conspiracy theories in my books!

Must have paid off the captain to ignore the weather warning and leave a few hatches open.

A few notes to a fisherman to tell local press about a “tornado” he saw.

/tinfoil

That's some serious life insurance policies about to pay out . Net worth of everyone on board must be shocking.

Freak accident by the looks of things , unless JP Morgan have been laundering money for the Mafia and theg forgot to drop it off in Sicily ! Or they are looking for Maxwell .

These days with modern PLC controls and internet connectivity it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility for somebody to mess about with the ballast system or something remotely if they weren’t smart about security. Just need to wait till there was a storm in the area to give it a bit of plausible deniability.

It’s not clear from the reporting whether they’ve arrested anyone for the other guys accident or whether it was a hit and run either.

With the co-defendent dying around the same time it makes it pretty look suspicious. Are there any actual witnesses to the sinking?

The super yacht looks pretty low tech.

Surely the forecast said “don’t go out a boat” today.
Unfortunately, the rich often believe that sensible rules don’t apply to them and crews don’t want to get fired.

If the 5 minutes I once watched of “Below Decks” or whatever that yacht crew version of Love Island is called is remotely true to life, I’m surprised that any of these yachts get out of their moorings in one piece.

From my experience it's boat-y people. The rest of the crew and myself holding onto the skipper, who in turn is holding on to the clew (the main sail broke loose) to win a race springs to mind. Glad he did as we won.

My wife used to recruit for super yachts. It is surprising how close to reality it really is
