Well had it since start of feb and the drives gone and stopped working :(

Bought it from *** , what do you reckon the chances are of them swapping it straight away ??

I would say a 300 quid console should last longer then 5 weeks reckon they should by rights swap it no questions will have to see , whats the opinions of anyone else ?

They should swap it no questions asked. If they argue you have to send it back, after 5 weeks you certainly don't.

just got new one , thumbs up to a well known music store. New controller as well which is just as well since mine has never been the same since it was introduced to my wall :p

Still faultless after care by sony to be honest

on anther note how do I get back all the downloaded games and content etc ??

You download them again. Anything you have downloaded already won't appear on the main PSN store, but will be in "Download "List" (?) in the top right corner.

Each piece of content can be downloaded by 5 unique PS3s. Unfortunately, I assuming you did not "deactivate" you broken PS3 you have "wasted" one of these already.

What precisely has Sony got to do with your console being swapped by the retailer?

Had it been an Xbox 360 it would have been swapped as well.

Well I assumed if HMV take it back no questions then sony must be fairly lenient with there returns service to the retailers

Or am I giving sony to much credit :p

Maybe it was in reference to the fact that sony had scheduled to replace it by the end of the same week it was broken.

The Sale of Goods Act says that retailers have to take back goods 'not fit for purpose' in a reasonable time scale, in some cases that can exceed the 12month warranty.
