Broken spark plug :(

I just cant help thinking the whole tuning thing is maybe a bad idea unless the base car is bomb proof to start off with.
I'm more inclined to believe it's a case of poor tuning coupled with poor driving habits. I've got the OEM clutch in my supercharged Civic Type-R and it isn't slipping at all, mainly because I don't launch it from every traffic light like I'm in Fast & Furious.

Having said that my first Skyline ended up having a duff tune from a bad tuner, on hard acceleration the CEL would come on momentarily. When queried I was told it was "perfectly normal", and not knowing any better took them at their word until eventually it ended up needing to have a full engine rebuild at Abbey Motorsport. :(

The water temps are within range though, surely they would rise slightly?

if the water temp gauge is anything like the VWs im used to they are heavily buffered so wont move from 90* until youre well beyond 100*

water temp is the last of your worries, if it were me (i wouldnt have taken my car to a tuner i suppose...) but those plugs should have been out to check the progress of the engine sooner

as said, you could be well in the realm of pre ignition and a heavily shagged engine

got DannyWs number?

Its not the tiny iridium tip tho, its the L shaped electrode.

If it was ME... I would have the head off and the exhaust manifold/turbo off to try and located that bit of metal. I don't see it leaving the engine without causing damage to the bore/piston/valves, and when it hits the turbo blades spinning at 100Krpm its not going to do them much good either.

Why take the chance and fire it up??

This is not a good problem to have.

Sure you can put a scope down the bore, but its not going to tell you if the bit is sitting in the head or exhaust manifold somewhere waiting to be blasted into the turbo blades.

My electrodes usually have a little less deposits but yes, i change my plugs every 10k and pull them every 5k to check nowt bad is going on with the engine, its a great early warning system and anyone with a turbot car over stock power should be checking.

I've just ordered two sets of 7E's since my change is due.

OP.

Thats not good in a very bad way - from past experience - you may be lucky, equally, you may win the lottery......

Taking the trouble to change your location field when you visit your Mum is even more OCD than me :D

I'll do that whan I goto Spain later (even though its for 12days and I will have to go out of my way to find a web cafe to do it!) :o :D

Well I'm currently waiting on TMS to give me a date on when they can investigate the car. I put some new plugs in and still has a nasty misfire and a metallic clanging from the top end. Engine = ****'d I guess, lets hope TMS sort this out.
