If rumours are to be believed, then RDNA3 should beat it this time. As for price... AMD will take advantage of the current market situation as they did before. Just look at Zen 2 prices, gone are the budget kings.

If AMD is serious about increasing their market share then they really need to take advantage of Nvidia's weak showing on the 12Gb imposter card.

In my opinion AMD has to get a card in-between the 4080 16Gb and 12Gb performance wise, and do it for $799, a good $100 off Nvidia's official $899 MSRP.
That would cause Nvidia a huge problem in the upper mid-range segment where a lot of people are.
Even if Nvidia drops the price of the 12Gb card, the AMD card would still be the better performer for the price.

Can AMD pull this off?... it remains to be seen.
But I am rooting for them, as Nvidia could do with a swift kick to the head. :D

So they are going to be in between nvidia's $900 and $1200 cards and you want it to be cheaper than them both?

I can see a card beating the gimped 3080 no problem but they will likely price these around $100. The real 4080 is in the 7900XT territory unless AMD's bringing some real improvements to the table..

That's right, those are Nvidia's inflated prices (hugely up from the 3080 prices).
What I am saying is can AMD do better from a lower price point.

I cant see these cards flying out the door, to expensive and new PSU to go with it, and no doubt some one will have a fire using there old psu which will panic people into a new one also. EVGA left as there is little profit in NV cards these days and Nvidia sell the FE card cheaper than AIB's can offer.
with a 600w required load to see the best performance and with an OC on the CPU along with water cooling a 1200w new PSU will be min requirements. add that all up and unless your loaded with plenty of spare cash the cost of living will determine how people spend there money in future.

Good luck to who can afford it, but most will be watching there money this time round, lock down gave plenty of people the chance to game and spend ferlow money but this time its not the case. a lot of AIB's will be looking to see what the level of uptake is before risking the business on cards they make no money on.

"Being able to afford it" is not the only limiting factor. I suspect there are a lot of people who have the money but lack the interest.

If the claimed "2 to 4x" uplift were real, they might sell decently, but Nvidia's chart showing the uplift in "today's games" falls well short. -And that has to be the best examples Nvidia could muster, so the reality is likely to be even more disappointing once independent reviews come out.

I don't mind spending money, but I'm not in the market for the smoke and mirrors Nvidia seems to be selling.

I was interested in getting a 4090 but not at the thought of shelling out even more for a ATX 3.0 PSU that's not available with a perfectly fine EVGA 1200 Supernova. I don't like the thought of potentially risky power cables to the GPU.

i can't see there being a risk mate with the adaptors for the non atx 3 psus.

£2k for a gfx card? I would rather spend the money on heating bills for the month. :)
Wow £2000 month bill just for heating?

Your house must be either used electric heaters or high powered LED light lamps used for growing hemp plants to sell cannabis.

I used gas for heating, my Shell Energy August 2022 £59 bill used £15 on gas calculated I used £10 on hot water used for washing and bath plus just £5 for heating. I not turned on heating everyday in May, June and July 2022. I now have £187 in credit and from 1 October my tariff will switch to Energy Price Guarantee with £66 extra credit add to my balance for next 6 months total £400 paid by government mean I will have free heating for 12 months or more. :)

I hope not I don't want to see interest rates like that or buying a GPU will be the least of my worries.
14% base rate?
No way Bank of England will raise interest rate to 14% this year, maybe 3% by end of year to manage inflation, hopefully inflation will fall by end of year.

The last time UK set 14.88% interest rate was on 8 October 1989.

I looked at 1984 and 1985 interest rate data, on 23 November 1984 it was 11.88%, 14 January 1985 it was cutted to 9.50% and on 28 January 1985 it was raised to 13.88% 3 days after Pound hit historic all time low.

They wont rise to 14% but 5% within two years is very much on the table. Thats depending on the internal and external economic outlook.

AMD made a good move telling us when they would launch RDNA3. They should also give a clearer picture of what we should expect from them and do so before Nvidia starts selling their cards.
