4090 pricing is NOT ok, it's ridiculous.
It is ridiculous, but it's also a halo product. They always are crazy and each time NVIDIA just pushed their prices higher and higher, hence this is the only one I can forgive in a way that it could cost even £2.5k and still be considered cheap for content creators and the like, who make lots of monies on it (and can discount it from the tax as work expense anyway). It should NOT be aimed at gamers really, 4080 in sensible price and speed should be. And that's where we have a problem this time - both 4080 are way under-specced for the x80 name (comparing to 4090 for sure) and way overpriced too.

The 4080's at current pricing though are dead in the water and for the weak specs on offer I personally wouldn't pay anymore than £800 for the 16gb version let alone the 12.
Problem for NVIDIA is that then they would have to drop pricing of 3k series and J.H. said himself publicly - not gonna happen, they want to keep up pricing and their margins, preferably on the level of mining times. I can only hope customers will teach them a lesson this time, though I somehow doubt it...

Cards not being released yet may also have something to do with it. Once the BUY button is clickable, you can rest assured many will suddenly develop a case of FOMO :D
This is why I said earlier "I can only hope customers will teach them a lesson this time, though I somehow doubt it..." - people say one thing, then they do another, a lot of times like these.

They could have went about it differently though and released a 4090 @1600 and a slightly cut down 4080ti with 14000 cuda for 1250 which would have went down much better and still kept the other cards relevant for 1k and under. Doing this would have certainly went down better than insulting prospective buyers with the joke 4080s being offered.

So for those who are buying, what card are you after? Do you have an order of if your top pick is out of stock what you’ll go for or will you wait?

FE for me this time and getting the EK Waterblock for it which will be replacing my 3090 Strix which is also watercooled , if i cant get the FE on release then i would very likely be waiting as the Asus Tuf OC model will be around £200 over msrp considering its $200 extra in the us and i also really do like that new block EK have released for the 4090FE

I'm sitting out this gen for sure.
First the pricing - I got a 3090fe in Feb 21 after waiting to buy a 3080 for month's on end. Over 18 months later and I'm still bitter over the price. Nvidia selling thousands of 3080s direct to miners really took the biscuit.
Second the power - the 3090 kicks out some serious heat already, I don't fancy a homemade sauna whilst gaming. I'd also likely need a new psu for a 4090, which further adds to cost.
Third - the outright lies/deceptive marketing with the 4080/4070 really hacks me off. Jensen's developed a God complex and hopefully he's miscalculated this time.

FE, or failing that an AIB under £2000, preferably one that is 450W as I intend to run it on a 750W  psu until I upgrade.

not being funny but people are waiting for atx 3.0 psu's to get what, £50-£100 cheaper while at the same time looking at dropping up to £2k on a new gpu ?! seriously if you are that short on cash dont buy a 4000 series card yet.

The issue is that there is only one ATX 3.0 psu available - and its Thermaltake.
Thermaltake psu = crap, remember that ;)
People are waiting for Seasonic, available in Dec.
