BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I haven't had a reply from them, even though the email said within 24 hours.
Well I decided to ask for an update and finally a reason for the delay;

Hi Danny,

Hope you’re well and thanks for coming back to me.
I’ve reviewed our plans for the area and checked with our build teams, at present we haven’t had any changes to our roll out, it is still on hold due to the extensive civils needed to bring FTTP to your postcode.

Surely the cost would become more expensive the longer its left I think

Looks like there is a massive of work kicking off in our town over the next couple of weeks. Counted 22 BT works to repair Toby boxes around one side of the town. Our side was mostly done towards the tail end of last year so fingers crossed they start pulling fibre fairly soon!

We are in the newer area so a all houses here have underground ducting where as the other side of the town will require digging, I'm selfishly hoping they will opt for the easy deployments first to bring their completion rates up.

Supposed to be getting Gigaclear in Q1 of this year but relatively suepct - but we have been told that OpenReach are planning for completion by the end of this year which will be great.

At the same time, I got back today to a bunch of flyers saying CityFibre are planning work now too! Relatively hopeful that we'll have something in place by the end of this year, it really does throw you off moving from an area with great FTTP to almost taking a 10 year step back to a ropey FTTC line.

That happened to my brother. He moved to a new development where he could only get 7mbps download, Had enough so stuck the house on the maket, Secured an offer then Cityfibre appeared and rolled out. He got a few months of that then back to FTTC.

Recently renegotiated the BT contract.

The TV package we have includes Now TV.

We can access Now TV via the BT box no problem.

However does anyone know how to get access to Now TV via the computer?

We dont have any credentials to login. The BT box must have access as part of the connection as we don’t need to authenticate with any login details but via the pc Now TV expects credentials.

Any one know how we get access via the pc without account details?

Is there a way to access it via the MY BT portal?

Go to the Now TV site and request a password reset to the email address you used when signing up for your broadband (the one all the order confirmations went to)

I had this issue because I used my existing Now Tv login and BT “ported” it over.

My username ended up being my email without the ‘@gmail.com’ and password was my existing one.

I've just had an email from Openreach saying my area has been added to their build plans. Good news but could still be a year or two away.

Edit: Yeah, just used their checker and it states "Build planned between now and Dec-2026".

Finally managed to order FTTC again from BT. Ordered FTTP in November 2024 following a house move but Openreach couldn't actually deliver it without significant disruption, due to the way the ducts were laid out.

My two year contract is up for renewal, BT are offering to continue my 500Mbps connection for £38.25, which seems steep. Has anyone had any luck negotiating their price down recently?

I have not renegotiated. But that does seem steep as I have recently ordered full fibre from Plusnet and I will be getting 900mb for £39.99.

Cheaper service as well. No thanks.
Speaking from experience? I've been with Plusnet since September for my 900 package. Its not missed a beat. Just like the service from EE before and BT before them. However, Plusnet are cheaper and their customer service agents are very good (in my experience).
