BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Got a source?

Yes daddies brown. :D

Have a read over on the think broadband forums.

People are seeing unexplained increases in sync, and upon checking their stats in telnet on the bt modem ( has be unlocked ) they are seeing higher sync and 17a profile.

My own stats are telling me im on the 8c profile.

For people who have already unlocked their BT modem and can view stats you can check what profile you are on by using this method.

telnet 192.168.1.1
login:admin
Password:admin

type sh

type or paste xdslcmd info --show

it will say either 8c or 17a.

My router still has a red light on it but i am back up to normal speed now and have not had any issues since the last time it went back up to normal speed.

Does anyone know if the bt business hubs are owned or rented ?

Due to BT being stupid i now have two BT business hubs, can i sell one of these ? Not sure if anyone would buy one. But worth a try.

Just looking through some of our customer sites which have FTTC and the best estimate upload figure I've seen from the BTW checker is 14.1Mbps.

I'll have to recheck the stats on my unlocked modem over the weekend.

I just ran the BTW checker and this is what it said:

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 34.4Mbps and upstream line speed of 14.1Mbps.

I think I might have to unlock my modem and check the stats!

hmm did u guys reboot your modem or did it happen on its own when you switched from 8c to 17a?

edit: checked on the checker and the upload speed went from 6.8 to 11.1 :). Now just have to wait to get switched to the 17a!

Has anyone else noticed a drop in pings in game? I was averaging 36-40 last week and now I'm getting 24-28 on the same server o.O

your profile might have been reset to 17a , so training kicks in and you start on fast path. If your still on 8c then i dont know ,lol:)

Kind of goes without saying to check your BT bill, but it's worth checking the delivery charge of £6.00 for the BT Home Hub. Since they messed up my install date (as you may have read through this thread) and had to arrange a second date, yip you guessed it they charged me twice on the HH delivery :) Quick online chat this morning got it refunded but just a heads up for anyone else that doesn't check and had a second or third install date arranged.

If the DLM sees a period of stability and less erros it will turn the level of interleave down.

Ie fastpath as you call it.
