BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

My date changed a lot to, it was originally March 2011, then went to September, then December, then all of a sudden it was live at the beginning of May...

The date changed a good few times.... :/

If your lucky it might move to April, if they haven't any problems with fttc, cabinet issues, blocked ducts, etc.

My cabinet came live about five weeks earlier than the listed date.

Internet ordered, next friday install date........ nice. Phoned in the end as website was still insisting on a bunch of extra crap(tv/calls to mobiles) that I didn't choose or want.

Hopefully they don't cancel the order in the next couple days like they did just before xmas IIRC when they screwed up and made the system think loads of people had it available.

The box DID get done a few weeks back now so was expecting it (hoping more like) to get done fairly soon after that, fingers crossed.

Ha ha, Sorry maybe I should have been clearer, I was talking about last year. Been on FTTC for almost a year now, since May '11. :)

Since being on the 80/20 trial i've noticed that most of the speedtest servers just cant max my connection at the moment... The Manchester one is the only one that comes close..

Downloading from usenet for example maxes it at 8.9Mb/s every time.

The BT speedtester has been crap for me too, only once has it given me a 'true' result.

Finally seen a FTTC cab near me, was open but no sign of an engineer but I'm sure one was about somewhere.

Maybe March 31st switch on isn't a pipe dream after all!

I share your pain! Stuck on 4mb here, which isn't too bad but I came from 12Mb :(

Pfft had to move back to my parents last week after 4 years on full 24MB with BE as I was 100M from the exchange, down to 3MB now :(

My exchange was apparently 'enabled' on the 1st of March and BT have been buzzing around for a couple of weeks. According to a thread on thinkbroadband there are some phone numbers on my exchange that are showing up as being able to order. Just hope mine gets sorted sooner rather than later. Going from 2.3MB p/s to 300k is quite depressing. I forgot you can't max a download and still browse the net smoothly...

Tell me about it, there's no evidence of the exchange I'm on in any future plans for FTTC :( it struggles to cope with 1080 streaming on youtube!

I can't play 360p smoothly! 31st Dec placeholder date for my exchange getting FTTC, and my nearest cabinet is in the spreadsheet, time is going so slowly though :(

Has BT changed their traffic management? for the past week I can download torrents at full speed at peak times. Been downloading at 4.4MB/s for the past 6 hours.

Edit

It slowed down to 250kb/s at 6:45, I thought it was 9am to midnight at the weekend they slow it down :o

It's dependant on network load.

Are you sure you're served by it? Have you investigated?

The box is under 100 metres away so i should be served by it?

using Sam knows it says the following

The following services are available in your location:

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
BT Wholesale WBC (21CN)
BT Wholesale SDSL
BT FTTC
AOL LLU
O2 / Be LLU
Bulldog LLU
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
Tiscali LLU
Tiscali TV (via Tiscali LLU)

Looks like FTTC is currently on available in some areas of the exchange http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NDGRA

Oh yes, thought I was going to have to "buy out" of my Talk Talk contract, never had any problems with Talk Talk's Network.

Just checked the Talk Talk availability checker, It claims I'll be able to achieve around 60/20 in April :D

Had been on adsl max 8mb for about 6 years and then only the last 3 months been on 21CN getting 13mb :( 60/20 will be a massive upgrade.

Exchange: NETI
