BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Is it usual practice for Infinity to be available way before the RFS date? It seems part of my town and at least one surrounding village has gone live over 2 months early.

My date for Infinity engineer is 10th May but my exchange is still showing coming soon with June 30th being the rfs date.

I registered for updates from BT for when it's available as well but I have not been mailed.

The fibre Cab was installed and connected a few weeks ago so I just kept using the line checker.

Nice to live in the country and have a fibre cab 200m down the lane :)

Which clown at BT thought phoning me with an automated message te remind me about Monday was a reasonable thing to do at 7.45 on a Saturday morning!

Thanks for confirming. Yeah it's my mates that's just gone available in the surrounding village he's been on about 2mb and less for years now, but the shoe is on the other foot now as his estimate is higher than mine.

I just checked the older half of my estate which had their cab installed weeks ago via address checking on BT Wholesale and it appears that it's available there.

What is so bad about the Homehub that I'd want to spend £80 on that?

From what i read its not great on Wireless conection and a lot of people have to reboot it everytime they switch on ,if you search on here you will find more threads about it :)

I was thinking that. As much as I'd like one as long as the home hub is functional I can't see the point.

Everyone and their dog moans about the Virgin Media Superhub. However I've had mine for 10 months, and whilst I cannot wait to get rid of Virgin Media and order Infinity, the Superhub has been flawless.

Test the HomeHub out thoroughly before listening to everyone's recommendations. I know it's you that I'm preaching to, so this post is largely redundant ;)

I disliked the HH3 because whenever I had a torrent running everything else would just come to a halt or even time out at times. Changed to a netgear WRN3500 and it's perfect now, getting 30meg through wireless aswell which is pretty good imo.

Does it support VPN?

I think it does now after a firmware update that or custom software but I don't own one :)

Some people have issues with a very poor wifi signal. I've found mine to be perfectly fine and the only issue I've had is poor transfer speeds to the wdtv live hub (via powerline plugs) the very odd time, and easily cured with a reboot.

Never an issue here, only yesterday I was downloading @ 8.8MB still browsing here and uploading some pics :)
