BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Hi

Same as me...I had 37/8 until I upgraded now its 32/8. Logged a fault with them since 14/04/12 they are now saying the problem is sorted....I know how you feel trying to speak to someone, they pass you from pillar to post. I have rang them at least 8 times and on some occasions for upto 40 mins!

Rang again today and an engineer visit is booked for Tuesday. Go to BT infinity forums, lots of people are having the same issue.

Hope mine gets sorted on Tuesday.

good luck, just keep on ringing them....

Yeah I'm another person who's line service has actually become worse since the upgrade, I emailed them initially as anytime I call I seem to get somebody from India and they just don't seem to listen in all honestly. Anyway the guy replied and said he did some tests and found a possible fault on my line, he opened a fault with the BT Wholesale team and they listed it as resolved without even contacting me.

I sent another email advising the issue was far from resolved, got a call back this time. He said they never enquired about getting an engineer sent out to my location so it's likely to be something on the exchange end and he opened another fault, I hope they get this sorted soon because my initial 18 month contract was almost up and I renewed for what seems like nothing.

Worked for me and quite a few others, that's if it hasn't be worn out by now ;)

Oh and my brother who doesn't work for BT but used to have a friend who didn't also work for them even though I don't have a brother who didn't give me this email address ....

Good luck ;)

LOL you do live up to your name Jester ha!! are you really Dirty though ? or know someone whos is Dirty ?? lol

Got Infinity on Thursday, engineer said Im synching at full speed, not surprising as the cabinet is maybe 15m away from my flat, and apparently Im only the 12th person to get Infinity! I verified this with my laptop connected to the HH via ethernet (about 76/18), but from my main PC upstairs, I struggle to get 16Mb....

Am looking into replacement routers for the HH, has anyone had any success with the Asus Black Diamond RT-N56U? Or any others?

Cheers

He said 2 hours apparently, he called before it went :)

I only had to wait about a minute. :p

A few questions you might want to ask the engineer, while stuffing him/her with tea/coffee and biccies.

1. Where is the cabinet?
2. Are the cables to my home, copper or aluminium?
3. What's my attenuation?
4. Can I take a photo of the JDSU/EXFO line diagnostics.

It's in! He wasn't keen on photos of the diagnostics but I remembered the noise margin as 6.1db and the downstream attenuation as 28db. The line length is estimated at 1km and the cables are copper.

His handheld device indicated 32mb down and 6mb up.

Speedtest, sadly, disagrees:
