BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Ah just remembered the 80/20 upgrade, so I went on and ordered it! Normally I should top it up easily, I can see the cabinet from my window. The Huwai modem tells me I'm synced at 88/31!

How long does it take to lift the cap on the line after the order ?

That's as high as mines gone and it's been over 10 days - time to get in touch with BT - should get 76Mb/s flat out on the down but it's just not happening! :o:(

Anyone have firbe via Talk Talk?

I have ordered it for my parents from them

got a epic deal from them so I just want peoples views?

BTW guys, I've had very good response with @btcare on twitter -- pretty incredibly they have a team that sort out /all/ the problems that are mentioned there, directly...

Thanks Phemo for clarifying things.

Perhaps the engineer knows something we don't yet, 200Mbps upgrade:eek:, maybe he got confused with the fttp we are having installed on some new builds in Bath.

Perhaps he just talks ***** like a lot of OR engineers seem to...

We had a few problems actually getting them to come out here. We booked one session a couple of weeks ago and they didn't turn up, we rang them and they said that the appointment had been cancelled - without informing us at all. We complained and they put us on the priority list for today. When he arrived, it was fine. Installed the hardware, connected us at the junction box cam and tested it.

I am thinking of moving to Infinity2 from BE broadband, now I know you dont get a static ip unless you go with fttc business option. Any one on infinity able to tell me how often the dynamic IP changes ? i.e everytime you reset the hub or every few days by itself etc... ? and also do the last two IP octets change or just the one ? thx.

The IP will change whenever your PPP session is re-established. So this can mean if your modem drops sync and resyncs or if you leave the modem on and reboot the router.

Prior to my upgrade (which of course involved a resync) I'd had the same IP for over 2 months.

The IP itself can vary significantly. Sometimes I've had 109.x.x.x and 81.x.x.x addresses and at present I have an 86.162.x.x IP.

Well I'm having great fun getting an engineer out to fit mine, I had a date set for 1st May so booked a days holiday only to get told they couldn't switch it on the same day my phone goes over.
So they ring me yesterday and suggest a Thursday in over a week's time, I point out they've left me without internet access and I can't book another day off work for it so I want it sooner and on my day off, they agree and ask me for my days off so I tell them 5th off May and 7th May and they say they can't do either as ones a Saturday and the others a bank holiday! So I've got to wait until 14th May for my next day off, bloody awful service.
