BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Does anyone else not have their exchange 80/20 enabled? I would be interested in what the BT website estimated speed check says for those who can't.

Probably not many are enabled yet mate, mine only got done this week.

LSWAL or Wallington, Surrey hasn't been upgraded to Infinity 2 as of yet. Have constantly been checking the wholesale checker to see whether the faster speeds will be available but I still get the constant 26mb/6mb ratio appearing :(

Am definitely hoping it does though as my Be connection is creaking at the seams :(

If you were on 40 mb before was the upgrade to 80mb free? Did you have to ask BT for it? A friend from work is on 40, I'm sure he wouldn't mind an upgrade if it's free.

No plans to update my exchange is year and nothing about the future either :( A shame as I'd like a different option to Virgin.

Hang on, you're getting an estimate of 26Mbit and you're wondering why the 38Mbit to 76Mbit upgrade isn't available to you? It's likely that 26Mbit is all your line will be able to support because you're a long distance from your cabinet so of course you'd see no benefit when your estimate was below 38Mbit in the first place.

The estimates are bizarre.

My original estimate was 26/7, I got the full 40/10 minus overheads.

My estimate for 80/20 is 41/7.

I will see what Tuesday brings.

An estimate of 42 means you're pretty far from the cab. Everyone is on 17a.

My exchange isn't 80/20 enabled though so I figured it wouldn't give me a higher estimate anyway.

Edit: scrap that, bt engineer dude was wrong, looks like it is and thats the max sync I get. Bummer.

Chill dude, I was merely stating that I wasn't on the upgrade path either as the OP asked!

I know why I'm not being offered as the cab also isn't near me however I've yet to check the distance properly with my own two feet :)

Offtopic - I've never trusted the database checkers from BT/et al as according to them, the maximum I can currently get is an estimated 6mb ADSL2+ connection on either of my lines yet here I am with two lines from Be that are synced at 14mb@3db each. They're not supposed to be accurate but when there is a 50% difference, you see where my skepticism comes in
