BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Still showing end of June <everything crossed that it doesn't move out again>

Anybody spot the difference :(

Me too I think, the wholesale checker has moved, the infinity one above says try again later

I can only take comfort in the fact that its only moved 3 months and there are openreach vans in the area a lot. So hopefully another few weeks and i'll be on

Anybody spot the difference :(

in the space of a few days 30th June - 1st July - September 30th.

I know how you feel - i have constantly been put back 3 months since March 2011. Its a right pain in the backside, but im edging closer as my cab is in, and its getting powered up in the next couple of weeks.

So im expecting it to be before 30th Sept tbh

ADSL availability checked now says September for me too. See you all in 3 months.

I wouldn't have minded if they had just said September 2012 in the first place but we were down as December 2011.

My cabinet is in, the cable is in the ground and my exchange is up and running. Why would you connect all the dots and turn it on?

This is getting ridiculous! Mine says 30th September 2012 on that checker as well but I placed an order yesterday

In March a load of people placed an order only to be told it was a mistake to allow it. Hope that isn't the case for you.

No idea what's going on with their rollout. Every single exchange in a 10 mile radius of me has been enabled for years, they all say accepting orders, but all the checkers say my line isn't enabled.

My exchange was setup in the 1st phase years ago so no idea why the cabinets aren't done.

And to add further confusion i now found out that my exchange is FTTC and FTTP and my house is probably scheduled for FTTP sometime in the next century. Annoying as the FTTP trials BT are doing now is on my exchange..

I just emailed them to find out what's going on. Mine has also been put back by another 3 months. Although this of course is a holding date and means it could be any time in the next 3 months (unlikely) or it'll be pushed back again around this time in 3 months :).

The annoying thing is that I only ordered BT Broadband originally due to the soon to be available Infinity (31st December 2011) and ever since then it's been pushed back. 3-6 months I could have accepted without grumble but it's becoming a farce. Especially as I'm fairly sure it's been cabled up for over a year now and the cabinet has been down for the same period. Additionally, a 2 minute walk down the road to the adjacent street and they're available to get Infinity.

Rang them to check on the off chance that the online checker was wrong and definitely not available :(

I have also been moved from 30th June to 30th September, so dissapointed!

Ringing BT will be absoulutly pointless as they will only echo what the online checker says. :(

BT I want my speed now god damn it !!!! :)

Well according to their data I'm 100% connected to a cabinet which was due to be upgraded in March 2010! 2.5 years and counting...

I just don't understand how they can class 9 months as an estimate. They must know right now which cabinets they plan on doing in the next 3 months. They've been doing it long enough to know what kind of problems they might face, they could just say "sorry, it's going to be 6 months" and be done with it instead of being strung along like this.

What the hell can happen that means that your plans go so far out of the window like this.

If Virgin was an option I'd have jumped on it months ago.

Openreach today announced it will make fibre broadband available to a further 98 exchange areas as part of BT’s £2.5bn roll-out of the technology. The exchanges, which are scheduled to be enabled by late 2013 are scattered across the UK from Sandown on the Isle of Wight to Oban in the Highlands and Islands.

The deployment will add nearly 800,000 homes and businesses to Openreach’s previously announced fibre plans. In total, the company aims to serve around two-thirds of UK premises by the end of 2014

List of exchanges here

Thats the most annoying part knowing all the gear is there but not enabled and someone 1 mile away can get it

BT obviously arent going to change this but they should be able to provide more of a reason as to why dates are pushed back, or at least tell us what the hold up is

The above news is all well and good but whats the point if they just connect 20% of the exchange and take years to go back and finish the job, publicity stunt is all

I just don't understand how they can class 9 months as an estimate.

If that were the case judging by how long BT have been in business we would all be on virtual internet headsets with organic power packs.

Doesnt matter how long BT do something they never get it right.

This chap has now had his date changed 7 times.

http://www.urbanhaze.com/2012/06/complaining-about-bt-infinity-dates-that-keep-changing/

As of today he has registered complaints with Oftel, the ASA, Trading Standards and Watchdog.

EDIt: I sent a tweet to @btcare and asked what the problem was, they came back with the usual waffle, I sent back that my cabinet is in, the cable is in and the exchange is live so it's baffling and they asked me to send my details for them to see what the hold up is. Maybe I'll find something out.
