BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Just got another general fob off from openreach regarding my date slip form June to September

So why do they bother moving in 3 month slots or providing dates at all until they are near certain its about to go live

It's a holding date. Take it with a pinch of salt.

We know it's a holding date, I've been holding for a year, some have been holding for 2.

That doesn't stop it from being an annoyance.

Why bother paying attention to it if it annoys you?

They are doing more than they need to by publishing their internal data.

Register your interest with BT Infinity and wait.

That's all very easy to say when your not on a 2meg connection

Its hardly internal data either. Hell its hardly even a best guess!

They should be giving reasons instead of constant delays. They just go for good PR by announcing more exchanges enabled and do a half assed job of finishing what they have

I was on a 1.7Mb/s ADSL connection before I moved to FTTC. My area was delayed by 18 months.

Have BT made a contract with you to provide a service by a certain date?

Get over it.

I placed my order Monday 25th June for FTTC and the checker has only just updated Thursday 28th.

Anyone else have a big outage last night?

Aye, I seemed to suffer a few issues last night too. Was flakey around 12 then just died around 12:30. I took the hint and went to bed :) The networks guys are just down the room if anyone's that bothered as to what went wrong? :) (i'll try and catch one on his own on the way for a ciggie)

Edit: Caught one I know - nothing they know about it but could have been further down the rabbit hole so to speak.

Does look like planned work though. 12:00 - 4:30...

Yes i had outage as well last night in west midlands area around about same time.

What's this, Virgin Media type outages on BT Infinity ?

I will likely try Infinity when it comes to my area, but I am dubious that it will be better than Virgin. With Virgin, I get one or maybe two outages a year, and at all other times it is a reliable service.

From my experience, BT Infinity miles better than Virgin. I doubt I would never switch back.

I'm certainly going to give them a go when it is available. If nothing else, it would enable me to get a cracking "new customer" deal when returning to Virgin if it doesn't work out.
