Successful VDSL2 G.vector Tests Pave Way for UK 100Mbps+ BT FTTC

The next generation of BT’s Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) based superfast broadband technology, which will make use of the ITU-T’s new VDSL2 G.vector (G.993.5) specification, has completed its first interoperability testing and could soon be bringing affordable speeds of close to 200Mbps into UK homes.

It also goes on to briefly mention Profile 30a which "should" be put in place next year.

Understand what this means. It states that my ip profile should usually be less than my download and upload speeds, but I am getting the opposite...

Where does it state that? You've clearly misread something somewhere.

Your IP Profile dictates your throughput speed which in your case is 69Mbps. The green bars indicate the speeds achieved in the test which seem perfectly normal.

Does anyone know of an analysis that has been done of the exchanges that have been enabled or announced and which one the 'market' categories they serve?

Market 1 : Those areas covered by exchanges where BT is the only operator.
Market 2 : Those areas covered by exchanges where that are 2 or 3 principal operators.
Market 3 : Those areas covered by exchanges where there are 4 or more principal operators

In the announcement that accompanied the most recent batch of exchanges they were stated to be the 'bulk' of the ones that BT would do without the BDUK funding and as I'm on a market 3 exchange that hasn't even been mentioned yet I'm feeling a bit peeved that smaller exchanges are getting done before some of the biggest ones and the ones where BT has the most competition!

Vectoring might give me a little boost at 750m from the cab, but the next profile up won't do anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for fibre on-demand in 2013, even if it costs a small fortune to have it installed.

KIA:Interested to know a few things, I see your distance to your cabinet, is near enough same distance as me to my cabinet, & you have FTTC, what speed you getting?

With my attainable rate @ 93mbs with a full cab, I would think 30a/vectoring would improve things by quite a bit.

These forums are still at times taking a while to refresh / load for me, nothing like the other nights with all the packet loss, but sill not as fast as other uk sites i visit.

Anyone else noticing the forums here being slow?

Actual throughput is 35/11.
:(Thanks, I'm even more suspicious about my connection now, my actual throughput is 36/3, if it rain it's worse.

Just trying to build up a picture of what peeps get being about 750 mtrs from their cabinet with fttc.

Not much I can do now with my connection,as I have pass my complaint over to Ofcom to resolve.

Hi well even though I can play BF3 at ove 90fps it does feel slightly laggy/jerky and that's on servers under 20 ping.

I can deffintely confirm just tried again even with 80-110fps on BF3 and a server with 28 ping its lagging something is still up.

Crosstalk knocked my sync speed down by 5Mb/s or so. The cab is full so they've added another.

Exactly what im hoping for mate since i have aluminium lines here. maxxing out around 6mb/s.

Even so thats more than fast enough for me, but hey always the need for more.

FTTP on demand supposedly gives up to 330mbit! ;)

No idea why i would need that speed!

My install is going ahead on Monday, will they force me to connect up the homehub? Or will they be happy for me to connect my Asus N66 from the get go?

Going one step further has anyone had any success in flashing the Huawei before the enginner connects it up? :)

I had problems with my Home Hub 3 had to keepp resetting it at least every 48 hours, got a TP-Link router late last year from my cousin and i think i have turned it off 2-3 times since!
