New fibre internets is emotional!

Holy **** Batman !!

I've just had fibre installed but I'm on 80/20. How much does that cost a month and who do I have to kill to get it ?!?

I'll have two please !!

I can't wait until speeds are like that all of the time. I'm noticing a little slowdown during the evening on my line but nothing major.

Does bt have any plans to up the speed of their 80/20 packages at present or is it to early yet ?

Also what the max speed someone can get on fttc ? I'm about 10 metres away from the cabinet :)

You know that's nearly a mile away? You sure it is 1500 yards away, maybe feet?

Yes its just under a mile away. Engineer seemed to think that was more than close enough??

Plus neighbours opposite and a few doors up are on the higher tier

At 1600 metres, I get 5mb / 0.5mb so you are doing really well. I wouldnt hope for any more if you really are around 1 miles to the cabinet.

100Mb/s FTTC next year if all goes well.

Speed seems correct for the distance involved. Neighbours might be served by a different cab.

Hi, does anyone have recommendations for a fibre ISP using BT's network, (Virgin / cable providers aren't in our area)?

I've been planning to move to BT for Infinity 2 from Be. My exchange is live and the cabinet should be finished in the next 2-3 weeks. The Infinity checker is estimating 76.9 D/L and 20 U/L.

I've seen quite a lot of posts around where people complain about going with BT, but most of the ISPs that are recommended are either (much) more expensive (and more suited to business use), still impose traffic shaping, charge for installation and more importantly have usage caps starting at 20GB which for a fibre service seems mad....With things like Steam and Sky On Demand, we could probably hit most of the caps easily.

The only 'unlimited' services I can seem to find are from BT and Sky and traffic shaping only seems to affect P2P. Also, installation with BT is free.

What are the general thoughts on here about going with BT?

Thanks! :)

You will find that date will probably slip, I was told if the date is at the end of a quarter and end of the month it will move.

My exchange was Dec 2013 and that has not been pushed to March 2013

Every date is like that. There supposed to be upto estimates, suggesting if your date is March 2013, then you'll get it anytime between Jan and the end of March.

Date has changed for my cabinet from By the 31st Dec to By the 31st March :(

Mine still says by the 31st Dec but I haven't noticed any activity around the cabinet. I didn't expect it to be done by then and probably be lucky if it's done in the 1st quarter of 2013.

mines been rock solid speed since yesterday.

Is there no hope now of it going up to the 25mb they said originally? and the 5mb up?

There's a couple of (staff?) discount codes going around online.. BT infinity 2 for £20.80 a month + £14.60 line rental it ends december 14th I think.

"Only £20.80 a month for the first 18 months, £26 a month from month 19, plus line rental, on an 18 month contract"

Might go it for myself at that price..
