He tried to run the bt speedtester earlier, but his window install is a bit borked (only got the beta option pop up) ,needs a format anyway. I`ll have a look-see tomorrow and see how it`s performing.
Just thought it strange there`s such a difference between the estimated and actual speeds, or is that common to have a 10-15 meg difference between the two?

well ive been esitmated 25 down and 5mb up and i currently get 5mb down and 1mb up.
Ill be sorely miffed if i get anything less after all the grief of changing business contracts.
BUT if i do i get the speeds i will be upgrading to the unlimited package as with 5mb upload a 24/7 private personal ftp would be perfect

Mine has dropped in sysnc by 10mb since install. So maybe its not all too uncommon.

Just ordered this for a new house I'm moving to on Thursday. Current provider at the old place, O2, couldn't give me new internet until Jan 21st

Currently on 16mb, predicts 60mb for the Infinity. Bit worried though, this house I am moving into looks like it hasn't been touched inside since the 70s so possibly rubbish wiring!

I'm assuming he wants the extra bandwidth or resilience.
*sigh* My BT Infinity modem is dead. No power light, nothing. Tried another 12V/1A power cable and still nothing, so it's definitely the modem that's dead.
Phoned up BT and apparently they need to send out an engineer to replace it.
Is this normal? It'll no doubt take a week or more to arrange an engineer visit and I'll have no Internet in the meantime.

Been checking the infinity website for months and eventually it had updated with a date on when I can get it, I knew it was coming soon as the cab is about 10 meters away from the house.
31st December, 80/20 so that's a nice new years present but why the hell can't I just get a broadband package and one that's not 18 months long!

That's a holding date so it may come before then (or after!).

I have a spare Huawei modem you can have if you cover the postage.
You will find that date will probably slip, I was told if the date is at the end of a quarter and end of the month it will move.
My exchange was Dec 2013 and that has not been pushed to March 2013
Yeah, the large housing estate afew miles away is live on infinity oddly enough but the town where the exchange is isn't, I'd guess there's more cabs and work to do in the town. There both off the same exchange though so I thought it was.. Well against BTs better judgement.
My girlfriends dad works for BT but not in the infinity/broadband sector but I'm sure I could find out more information if I wanted, thinking about it I'm sure the live date was November so it's already slipped.
