BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I have the engineer coming on the 13th now. He was supposed to come on the 1st Feb after a two month wait (new phone line as well) but Openreach had no log of requiring BT Infinity as well as a new phone line.

Oh well I am hoping at least due to a new order having to be put in (said the lady on the phone on Sat), it will be the true unlimited version.

I'm not sure what the general verdict of the service in this thread is...

But I had friends urging me to stay away from BT.

Being awkward, I of course ignored them.

Couldn't be happier. Been a customer for four months now, not one hiccup. Speeds are lovely, customer service seems fine.

It's not just BT who have bad customer service cases. A google search will show most of the popular ISPs and people complaining, it's most likely due to the amount of people contacting them everyday, in this day and age companies are trying to save every penny so hiring more advisors to man the desks isn't an option.

That being said trying to get anything out of the Indian call centres is impossible, they are out of touch with what's happening and some of their advice is dated. Poor training most likely.

5 minutes after the nice BT man has left... plus re-siting the TP-Link powerline adaptor for my PC as I saw no improvement whilst he was here...

I'm happy so far!! :D

Plus they said it could take 24 hours to achieve its full speed, and then 10 days to settle!!

I have an install date for 18/02 for Plusnet unlimited, any plusnet users here? I've been estimated 68/19 so I'm hopefully I'll get close to that...

Yay, my BT cloud has been increased from 2GB to 50G. Now I'm just waiting for them to remove the traffic shaping!

Quick question which I'm sure has been covered already.

I'm on Infinity Option 2 but joined when it was 40Mb/s service. Can I get it increased to 76 without renewing my contract?

Edit: Never mind. Answered my own question by logging into MyBT. No, is the answer.

Looking on MyBT it's the new 'Unlimited' service! :D

Plus I'm gonna get myself a 15m LAN cable and (routing through the loft) plumb my PC direct into the Gigabit port of the HH3, as my Flat's wiring seems to be knocking about 10meg off the actual speed I'm getting!

If I connect directly, rather than via my Powerline adapters, I get 68meg

I'll see what I get when i do that!! :)

So what's all this talk of unilimted/non throttled services?

My install is the 13th Feb and on My BT it says my package is "Broadband - BT Infinity Option 2"

will I not until after the date of install if I am on the unlimited package or not? I signed up for this at the end of November 2012.

I signed up 4 days ago, and my install is due on the 20th. My BT says "Unlimited Broadband with BT Infinity 2" and underneath, it says "You have unlimited broadband usage"

So im not sure if yours will change, once its installed. If it doesn't you might wanna ring up and check.

Just telephoned to get a bit of clarity. "yes you are on Unlimited Fibre and you will receive 50GB Cloud storage".

Yep!... I have my important Documents/Photos on my home PC, The Cloud, and my Work PC... plus an external 1Tb WD Elements...

I'm not gonna loose anything important ever again!! (been stung a couple of times in the past with failing Computers!)

Hi guys, just saw that infinity is now available in my area :D

Predicted 58Mb/17Mb on BT wholesale, but I see Sky also do a fibre product (40Mb).

Apart from the cashback with Sky and being a customer of their TV, is it worth going for the slower speed from Sky over the BT product?

Sky Fibre Pro will give you up to 80/20, the same as BT Infinity for £30/month. You can't order it online though, you need to call up and order or call to upgrade after installation.

I was predicted 58/20 but actually sync at the full 80/20 with plenty of headroom and am very happy with Sky.

Trying to upgrade my broadband to unlimited online and I get this..

" Unlimited BT Infinity 2 + Calls Find out more

This package gives you:

BT Infinity 2 with up to 76MB connection speeds, 19MB upload speeds and an unlimited monthly usage allowance
Unlimited Evening & Weekend Calls to UK landlines after 7pm weekdays and weekends
BT Family Protection parental controls
BT NetProtect Plus online security
Online Storage
Only £26 a month, plus line rental, on an 12 month contract"

12 month contract? is that right? very odd that it says 12 months considering im in an 18 months contract..
