BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

^^ Because your route goes Sheffield->London->#destination# wherever its going so even a server in sheffield is bouncing off London.

I live in Sheffield and my ping to the Sheffield XILO server on speedtest is about 25ms. My ping to the London XILO server on speedtest is 20ms... Go figures. :(

Surly its not both ways though, why would they have the north route through the south and the south route through the north?

Does anyone know if you can request a move over to the "Totally Unlimited Broadband" from BT online or if you need to call up?
I've been on Infinity 2 since August last year, so I'm on the old profiles and don't get moved over.
Moving over to the new package resets my contract, so I'm back under 18 months however I'm not in any rush to move from BT.
Just would rather click a few options online rather than having to get on the phone, into a queue, on hold...... :)

With FTTC cabinets, does having a sticker ("Superfast Broadband is here" or whatever) on it mean it's enabled. i.e., they are not enabled unless they have a sticker? Or do they not all have stickers on them?

My cabinet has been live for ages but doesn't have a sticker on it - none of the cabinets round here seem to.

I've been reading over at the BT forums where there have been a few people that have regarded to the "Totally unlimited" BT offerings and have then seen a reduction in their connection speeds. I've got more than enough bandwidth for my use, so I guess non-throttled and totally open but a little slower would be worthwhile.
Just worried now that if I regrade I'll lose the connection I have now - and I expect if I do ever lose it there will be no getting it back.

The main connection from BT's network onto the public internet is in London which pretty much everyone is routed through regardless of where it goes after that.
