BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I've got an engineer coming out on Friday. Before everything went wrong I had a connection of 74mb.
I'll accept a stable connection at around 70mb.
If that means using the HH3 then so be it. But the BT guy I've been chatting with is convinced it would be a fault on the line causing the constant reboots and for DLM to kick in.

have you still got the white vdsl modem? bung that in and connect it to your hh5 , dont use the vdsl modem of the hh5, see how that goes.

I gave that a quick try last night - initial connection was still at 54mb and that hadn't changed by the (this) morning.
I'll leave the HH5 plugged in alone until my engineer visit tomorrow and I'll ask his advice then - stick with the HH5 or revert back to the HH3 & VDSL modem I've still got stashed away.
If that is his suggestion then I'll speak with BT about getting a refund on the HH5 - not fit for purpose.
I guess there is still a chance the engineer tomorrow will find a fault - it's just when they came out a week ago to reset my DLM they said the line had not reported any faults.

For what it's worth my line seems much better (sync and latency wise) using the HH5 compared to three different revision modems over the last 3 years.

I'm pretty sure only certain HH5's are affected, it seems split with some people saying it's awesome and others saying it's terrible.

Got a problem...

Using a HH3 and VDSL modem (infinity) and yesterday sometime the internet "died". Currently the green DSL light is on on the modem but the broadband light on the router is flashing orange and there is no internet. I've been through the usual help pages on the hub and reset/checked the wires and still no good. There aren't any troubles reported in my area. Any suggestions? I'd rather not have to ring up the useless helpline...

Not sure if it's related to "upgrading" our package a few days ago, although that was from infinity capped to infinity uncapped (same speed of 36Mbps). I'm assuming not as it's not actually a change of the line but currently can't think of anything else.

I've tried a physical cable from the modem to computer just to check that and that doesn't work either (although not sure if it would work anyway?) But dont have a spare router to swap out the HH3.

I think it's a conspiracy, every other cabinet in Stone seems to have been enabled for fibre apart from ours!! Our estate is served by 2 cabinets, number 22 and 23. 23 has been enabled but hasn't! Still got 31st March as the due date for availability....come on BT!

They probably running fibre blow test before become available

I switched out my HH3 as I was getting disconnects nearly every midnight.

Got a ASUS N66U instead and it's been rock solid and stable, although I don't think the DSLAM is upping my profile as it's been stuck at the same speed for a while.

Download speed achieved during the test was - 52.5 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 43.34 Mbps-54.18 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 54.18 Mbps

Upload Speed
11.69 Mbps

0 Mbps 20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 11.69Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

I've always had a bit of a flakey line when on ADSL as the distance to the green cabinet is quite long.

Also, since switching over to the N66U router I've not been able to connect to other FON connections which is very handy for me as I deliver in rural areas.

Anyone else had issues of not being able to connect to the FON network after switching to another router?
