BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

So whats going on with uplay?

Yesterday it took ages to login, but eventually it worked.

Now, its taking ages then saying I need to enter cd key to play game, but at the top it says it is unable to contacts the uplay servers.

Also crashes once I put cd key in....

5 tries later... it works!!

Happy with that. Near top end. Dunno status of my cab though, never said if it's empty/near full already. So will just have to see how it goes.

Estimate was 60-80 down and 18-20 up on impacted.

hmm straight line for me is 361 meters, as for a line route around 500 meters so guessing il be lucky to get 40+ i bet.

still beats the hell out of the 4.11meg i get atm.

Logged into homehub manager and shows

Downstream: 74.5 Mbps
Upstream: 19.53 Mbps

So I guess I'm losing some to overhead? I assume vdsl has some, or the speedtest sever is meh.

Quick question guys. It says on the BT DSL checker that Fiber Multicast should be available from 31-Mar-14, does that mean it'll be live by then or that's when they start to install the cable?

Beware of horrible Home Hub 5 rebooting itself every nights! Will affect DLM.

Must admit, I heard about this issue and my HH5 was dropping quite often during the first couple of days:

Was trying to watch a football game on BT Sport HD via the You View Box on the 22nd and it just kept on dropping!

My sync speed today is a lot lower than on day one.

I remember doing some speed tests whilst the engineer was present and getting approx 51Mbps but experiencing those connectivity drops.

I now max out at approx 43Mbps but the connection is rock solid. Only connectivity loss was when my wife unplugged the power when cleaning.

That's exactly what it says for me, however there's no sign of a new BT cabinet even now despite them having planning permission for it (it's in a conservation area) since 2011.

If you know where your BT cabinet is you could go and check out the immediate area, from what I understand the new fibre cabinet should be within approx 100m of the existing one.

Yeah it's really close to me but they've not done anything about a fiber cabinet which worries me. Would have thought that if the deadline is by the 31st of this month, it would have been in by now.

31st March will be an end of quarter holding / target date. Don't be surprised if it changes.

You also want to look for the two rows called FTTC Range A (Clean) and FTTC Range B (Impacted) rather than Fibre Multicast on the checker.

So does that mean that it basically won't happen? The other 2 FTTC aren't even there, I have:

WBC ADSL 2+ Up
ADSL Max Up
WBC Fixed Rate
Fixed Rate

Other Offerings
Fibre Multicast
