BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Infinity 2 ordered (finally, been waiting 3.5 years), should be installed 2-Dec-14, opted to get a new line installed as it was free :)

Hoping for top speed as I only live about 25 meters from the cabinet.

Nice bonus was getting £100 Sainsbury's Voucher and £60 M&S Voucher, happy days.

mine was supposed to be may this year then pushed to Dec 31st ( yeah right ). No indication of any upcoming roadworks and same old cab sitting there with 6 weeks to go. Not looking good for me :(

Checked my exchange today and its getting FTTC (should be a nice upgrade from ADSL :p)

Just wondering though what the forcast date is?

The date is a placeholder and should only be looked at with a pinch of salt. That date has been pushed back every 3 or 4 months for the past 2 years on mine.

Thought it'd be something like that, is there anywhere I can check thats more reliable or is it just a case of waiting?

Guys, does this page actually do anything when it is 'checking'? As shown in the screenie below all mine does is shows the little spinning icon, never does anything else. Does it work for anyone else?

i am impressed :) also guy who came wasn't the most helpful, as i ran a cable to where i was wanting it put but made excuses so i got it done at the master and moved it myself

That checker works for me - not very helpful as I'm already on the fastest speed available though.

Make sure your not using any script blockers, etc. that might be interfering with it.

BT have started blocking even private torrent tracker sites now, some of the big ones have been blocked in the past couple of days. At least if you use the http:// addresses and not httpS://

Edit - link http://torrentfreak.com/bt-starts-blocking-private-torrent-sites-141126/

Just testing access to a few of the sites that are supposedly blocked (without https) and all loading fine for me at the moment on BT :S

It looks like you’ve already got BT Infinity, but you can still upgrade your speed or usage limit

You could get
69Mb-80Mb

You currently get
69Mb-80Mb

Very good! :D

My BT Infinity booted up yesterday. Loving it!

Package said 37ish, that's what I'm getting. Seems pretty stable too.

Coming from a 15Mb standard broadband line from TalkTalk which had a lot of "dips".

Is anyone else having problems this evening? I can't even load google.co.uk

Looks like BT are having some issues as just checked the service checker and indicating issues. Tried changing my DNS to Google DNS but still not working ( i use my own router ) I have infinity 2.

Have been having issues with YouTube and Google today and that is on all various devices.

Mine was still playing up this morning, just rebooted the modem and now it's ok again. Bit of a pain because I access my CCTV via an app and now have to re-configure with the new IP.

Our infinity line has been borked for the past couple of days...had to switch our gateway to our backup slow landline.

Remote desktop connections in or out are fine but internet, email are not working - any ideas?

Sounds like DNS is hosed, try using google's in the meantime 8.8.8.8 IIRC.
