BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Has anyone on here bought a MK3 master socket from the jungle or the Bay? The last thing I want to do is buy a dodgy fake which interferes with the line! Trust me :).

Do fake Openreach faceplates even exist?

If you definitely want a real one and don't want to chance eBay then they are actually made by Pressac, so you should be able to find them from more legitimate sources.

Forgive me for potentially asking a very out of date question, but are all BT FTTC enabled cabinets vectored now?

Also, can anyone tell me if BT infinity 1 Unlimited is 9.5Mbps or 2Mbps upload? Depending on where you look, you see both. Hoping it's the former.

How would you know if your cab has vectoring enabled?

We're performing our final quality checks and making sure everything is ready for your fibre order. You can't order a fibre service today but typically it'll be available to your premises within the next month.
If you'd like to know when you can order fibre register your details.
Find out more about the fibre journey.

Hmm...

I've be plagued with constant disconnects. router going green or flashy orange. at first it was just a couple of times and now its once, sometimes twice an hour with occasional periods where its stable for a bit.

I just dont want to call customer support, i know it will end in tears and smashing stuff. Time stamps on the event log are mad, they're mixed up with times going forwards and backwards (some are in the flipping future!) which kind of makes me think my HH5 is borked.

Im on BT's 80mb package and until now its been extremely stable.

Is it possible to export the event logs somehow or view them in some better way? What key things should I be looking for as they're spammed pretty hard.

What are the best alternatives to a home hub?

Stats page details seem ok? Speed tests all come up great and pings are great, its just so unreliable!

If it's that bad you could have an underlying line problem.

Perform a quiet line test (Google it). If there's a problem report it. If you do report it don't mention broadband. If there is a line problem and they fix it your broadband problems may disappear.

If talking to customer support is the problem you think it is then you really should consider changing your ISP.

looking at the logs of the most recent DC i got a

( 16.670000) Boot reason: watchdog reset

Its tricky to tell if thats what started it as, the times are mixed between 15:09 and 16:20 (which is still an hour away!)

So, dilema! Our Sky fibre pro service at our current address is being cancelled on Monday and will resume in the new property on Tuesday. The problem is we now will not be moving into the property until the week after and Sky can't cancel the move now! The property is unoccupied but has an ancient ADSL service at the moment. I'm worried about the fact during the first week of the line testing there will be no VDSL modem plugged in! Am I over thinking and the line testing will just start as soon as the VDSL service is active with a connected modem?

No issue whatsoever, don't worry about it.
