BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Don't forget your upload would drop to up to 8.5 instead of 19.5.

BT seem expensive, I pay £46.99 with Zen for 76/19 and standard line rental. I've not been notified of any price increases.

I could get it cheaper elsewhere but I can't be bothered with the hassle and to be honest the service has been outstanding.

9.5 they quote. Not sure whether it would make any difference I dont upload files. I dont really want to swap due to the free tv I get. If it wasnt for that I would look round.

A drop from 18Mbit(-ish) to 9Mbit(-ish) isn't doing to bother you much unless you're actively uploading. Just watch out for the ISPs that only offer 2Mbit upload on their lower packages.

Agreed. I do notice the increased upload speed. I'm forever changing my Apple Photos library, Onedrive and uploading YouTube videos etc.

******* hell, identified a problem 6 dad to fix.

I really needed broadband today as I'm working from home and have a lot of stuff to do, having to use bt wifi fon and the service is ******* ********, not even sure what the point is it's terribly slow.

Luckily virgin is being installed this afternoon.

Had my BT Infinity activated 5 days ago and I seem to be on 14mb but when I've ran the check on the landline number I get the following:

This is from a speed test on thinkbroadband:

Should I be expecting a higher speed?

What are the sync speeds from your router (assuming it has a built-in VDSL modem and shows the sync rates)?

Yes. Try test socket, another filter and check all other sockets are filtered correctly then get onto BT. Expect lots of mundane questioning before they will agree to send an engineer. What does the speed on the Router say?

Downstream sync speed:
17.15 Mbps

Upstream sync speed:
5.46 Mbps

Yes. Didn't you get an estimated speed from your isp when you signed up?

You need to get it reported.

It said 30-40Mb when I signed up but now when I enter my postcode/landline it says 15-22Mb :|

I've just tried rebooting the Homehub after taking the faceplate off the telephone socket and the sync speed has changed to

Downstream sync speed:
18.03 Mbps

You should have received an email or confirmation to state the minimum speed you will get. Can you check this?

Didn't think to check that!

How fast will it be?

We estimate your download speed will be between 32Mb and 45Mb, and your upload speed will be between 6Mb and 9Mb.

The minimum guaranteed speed you can expect from your BT Infinity will be 28Mb.
