BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

I pay 22.50pm for 80mb and i pay my rental up front with mastercard yet they ripped us all off with the contract thing. The lady told me i can cancel or go elsewhere but to stay at tbe same price is impossible it will rise by whatever it was. So what happened to having a contact? They can back out at will?

We talked for an hour or so about life and xmas and i resigned for 22.50 for 18 months. So really they have just given us all a shakedown to renew all the contracts. I bet some lowly creature thought that up as a christmas bonus for the shareholders lol. Oink

Really SOGEA and Skype should be the death of these swines.

Most ISP's see it as "doing you a favour" when they decide to break their end of the contract - they seem to retain the contract for as long as they want to, of course the customer doesn't have the same flexibility.
I was 6 months into an 18 month Talk Talk contract when they decided to increase the cost. I phoned up to complain and they basically said "What else do you want? We're letting you leave without penalty"
What did I want? I wanted the price I'd been promised for 18 months and the deal that if I'd tried to get out of early, I'd have been heavily penalised.
I was then promised a "deal" over the phone which effectively meant that even though the prices were increasing, if I agreed to restart an 18 month contract again then I would be GUARANTEED that price for the next 18 months. As it was no more than I was paying at the time, I thought why not.
30 minutes later I get an email confirming what I've agreed to - nothing like what was described over the phone and more expensive. It because a principle thing at that point and I left to join Vodafone - where I'm currently paying £28/month for my up to 76mb (including the line rental).

My Vodafone comes to an end in May and I'll see what options I have open to me then.
But as for ISP's and their contracts - extremely one sided I'm afraid.

My £33pm for Infinity 2 seems excessive compared to some of you. If I were to leave BT, Vodafone seem to be cheapest for similar package at £28. Not sure how long I have left on my contract. MyBT websites tells me nothing.

after years of waiting, I can finally get fibre, and luckily for me, I can get 300MB BT FTTP.. It will be here 31st Jan

can anyone recommend me a long ethernet cable to buy? It needs to go from hub downstairs to PC upstairs, I just want to know if any can handle the speeds

I rang bt up and said I wanted to cancel and they offered me that

Any recommendations for a modem/router to replace a Plusnet One Hub. Wired works fine but WiFi seems very weak, so wanting to replace. 76mbit fibre connection, if it makes any difference

I'd grab a used ASUS N66U if possible, can get them for around £50 which is a bargain.

Guys, how do I actually go about getting Openreach FTTPoD ?

I've seen the pricing below which I'd definitely consider.

Do I contact Openreach directly or must it be through an actual ISP?

Budget? I'm using a separate modem and router with Plusnet. Draytek vigor 130 and Netgear R7800.

Under £100 as a hard cap, but ideally something around 50-60. I'm living in a 2 bed flat so range isn't a massive issue, but it's an old building so internal brick walls don't help.

You can get a VDSL version of the N66U too. I used to have one, but it started playing up. Was great for the 4 years I had it though.
