BTCC 2013 Season

I wasn't that impressed with Thruxton as a spectators track, much prefer Brands and Silverstone. Why are they the only track to charge extra for Paddock entry?

Yeah its quite poor. I've only been twice to Thruxton before and would go more often (its only an hour away), if the spectator areas were improved. I think they are restricted by the airfield still being in use but they need some more banks to sit on and covered grandstands.

They only had one large TV screen facing the tiny grandstands and on the far left hill we sat on there wasn't even commentary or anywhere to get food. Quite a long walk back to the middle of the very busy banks near the chicane to get some nom.

That said the views are good from those parts.

Shouldn't have got on the grass in the first place though. That's why he'll probably not end up being a title challenger this year, despite currently having the fastest car - he is still a young guy compared to those old hands though. :)

I assumed from watching the race live that he'd just planted the throttle to keep it pointing in the right direction (not sure there'd be enough power at that speed for it to work though). Pretty impressive that he managed to keep it all pointing in the right direction while only feathering.

My claim to fame!

I love following the BTCC people on twitter, they always have fun banter.

I loved those Integra's too. Such an excellent looking BTCC car

I remember going to Donington in 2004 or 2005 for its competitive debut. We were standing outside of Coppice, looking through a gate (we had tickets for the Saturday and Sunday) and it looked far more stable than all of the other cars. We discussed how well it would preserve the tyres given that stability and up until the point it was retired it was still the best at it (other than the rear-wheel drive BMWs).

Depends which circuit but when I went I sat at the bottom of the hill by the chicane, could see them from top of the hill, round the long sweeper and then through chicane and up the hill. But that was a fair few years ago now.

Ticket for Oulton Park booked. Any vantage point recommendatons?

Infield is good at cascades, you can see them exit the first corner, head up past the lake, and then come back down into the chicane. These tend to be where most of the overtaking gets done, unless your Matt Neal and you fancy a last minute dive into Lodge against your team mate :p

Andy Neate will be out in his new car so expect some more crashes... There's been a 3rd NGTC Motorbase Focus so you might see Michael Caine out in it at Oulton.
