BTCC 2013 Season

Possibly, maybe even the MGs. Joe Girling was missing from Snetterton and the rumour is that he will be back out with an NGTC car later this year.

Yes the S2000 might be cheaper to buy, but you're buying a well worn car with unknown parts that could fail. Warren Scott had constant issues due to parts failing unexpectedly so he made the jump to NGTC mid-season.

Surely the cost is just supply and demand? Obviously an old car from a pool of lots of unused old cars will be cheaper than building a new car to new specifications, or buying one of the few new cars on the second hand market.

It will be a shame if we loose some of the S2000 drivers and teams, but I don't think its that much of a stretch for them to get into NGTC machinery.

£55k is comparatively cheap compared to the £250k they cost to build an S2000 car. I can see that parts would become a problem as the works teams had the resources to design and create the bespoke parts necessary for the regulations that privateers like Warren Scott are unlikely to.

NGTC is the future as many of the mechanical parts are standardised and available off the shelf.

Yeah, intending to do some karting on the Saturday afternoon (unbooked, so leaving it a bit late, but hopefully we can get some places at Teesside!), staying overnight in Scotland and then a short trip to the circuit in the morning. :)

No track beats Knockhill for spectating. None.

Impressive session from Austin, I hope he does well tomorrow.

I've just booked tickets for Rockingham. I've never visited that track before so any advice on where to watch from would be appreciated.

I'm out tommorrow doing family stuff. Gutted I'm gonna miss it. Got to decide which of the BTCC or F1 gets recorded before tomorrow morning.

It's not fair! :(

This is gav and Mr Men by the looks of things? :)

Sadly not. That was the intention, but there were only going to be a few of us this year, and one of them requires a minor engine rebuild on his Nippon MR2 and fixing the van he uses to bring it to the circuit (brakes failed on the way to Mallory Park and creamed into a BMW), another has sub-par finances and mine aren't in the best shape either, so for the first time since 2004 I think, we're giving it a miss. :(

Normally enjoy this weekend, with some good karting, good racing and good crack, and Knockhill is such an awesome track to watch any cars - one of the best spectator tracks in the world and comfortably the best in the UK of all the ones I've seen.

I'm going to have a micro-climate overload weekend, watching Spa for the F1 and Knockhill. I saw the forecast yesterday was for cloud in the area but no rain, which almost guarantees at least 1 wet race at Knockhill. :D

All dry today - t shirt weather :D

Spent the morning shooting pictures (or trying to) of fast cars and just watched the action in the afternoon :)

There's not really a choice at Rockingham, you just sit in the main stand. The whole track is visible from there but it's not particularly close. You can go down to the grass area at the front of the stand to get closer to the start/finish straight though.
