BTCC 2013 Season

Toby Moody won't be commentating this year, which is good as he often mixed up cars/drivers even though some had different liveries. David Addison will take over.

Tim 'WOOOOOOOOOOOOAH' Harvey is great. Going to make a banner if end up going to a race live.

Toby Moody was an awful BTCC commentator, he clearly was never into 4 wheel motorsport.

Hope the new guy knows his stuff, and isn't as dramatic as Toby used to be, used to get on my nerves. Ben Edwards was great and used to enjoy his commentary. Tim Harvey is a bit boring, but certainly knows his stuff

Looking forward to this years BTCC. A full grid of 32 cars at some point too. Hopefully this will be like when it was in its prime in the 90's.

I'm not keen on that. BTCC is great when everyone is equal. Creating a 1 second difference between the cars will create a 2 teir race.

We shall see, it might be ok, but I'd rather they all used the same tyre.

There's no equality anyway, last year you had two classes of cars running for the same title and you had Neal/Shedden moaning about boost pressure limits imposed on them. It'll make things more interesting IMHO.

Hang on, how does this work if it rains during the day?

If one team choses to run softs in the first race, and another chooses softs in the last, but it rains between races 2 and 3 making 3 a wet race, it will mean one team will got soft/hard/wet while the other team went hard/hard/wet, which seems rather unfair?

It would be better if they could chose the tyres right up to the start of each race, but could only use the softs once.

Well if they think it'll rain they can just gamble and elect the soft tyre for the last race and hope it rains. I'm guessing they can pick on the day at least?

Nope, you choose which race will be your soft tyre race before qualifying, so over 24 hours in advance.

That's a bit rubbish then. That said, Jordan set the quickest lap of the day at the Donington Test/Media Day on a soft tyre, so it can't be that bad...

It will be interesting to see which is quicker over a race.

But locking them into a tyre strategy the day before, and before they have even qualified, is pants.

Do the S2000s have to follow this too? I can see the soft tyre causing even more issues with wear and overheating for them.

*edit

The soft tyre that must be used by NGTC cars in one race each weekend

Never mind, answered my own question :p
