Budget 2500K First Time Build

Oh, so that's what it is! I also have about 4degrees difference between the cooolest and hottest cores, I thought it was just down to architecture... My max temps are about 70C (OCed, stock were about 60C if I remember right). I run stress tests for 15 minutes though, and temps do pick up after 10+ mins on my cooler (Arctic Freezer something, wish I spent and extra fiver and got yours:( )

I've had up to 9 degrees difference. :(

I re-did it and let if got for about 15 minutes. This intelburn seems to run separate sub-200 second cycles at 100%. Between each cycle temperature drops down about 5-10 degrees for 5-10 seconds, then goes back up again. It doesn't stay at maximum temp/power for 15 solid minutes. What do you use for stress testing?

Hmmm, after 15 minutes the hottest core was 51 degrees. Prime95 (64bit) doesn't seem to be stressing as much as IntelBurn. Prime95 is only drawing about 60 watts whereas IntelBurn got it up to 85 watts.

I do have a pretty cold room though. My feet are always freezing and I often use a microwavable heat bag thing for my feet if I'm sitting for a long time.

Interesting, I've always though that CPU can not work harder than 100%, so doesnt really matter which propgram is used (unless it makes pauses between stress tests that is:)) Maybe Inteliburn drew up more watts because it was also was running tougher RAM tests? I dont know...

Anyway, 50C after 15 mins of testing with Prime is a very good result!

Just overclocked to 4.0 GHz and it's still barely reaching the high 50's.

Wattage has jumped from 60 to 80 watts though.

Well it's booted with 4.4GHz just fine. Just started Prime and it's up to 62 degrees on the hottest core after 1 minute. :D

It's been 10 minutes and the hottest core peaked at 64 degrees, lowest was 58. I'll let it run, but I think this one stops after 15 minutes.

Are you increasing the "turbo multiplier" or doing a "manual overclock"? Manual should give cooler temps still.

Go for 4.7! ;)

I'm doing manual based on that guide for the AP-D3 board in the Overclocking sub-forum here.

This was after 15 minutes of Prime:

If I keep all the settings the same as this:
M/B Intelligent Tweaker

Advanced Frequency Settings - 44x
CPU Ratio - 44x
Advanced CPU Core Features - Press Enter
Internal CPU PLL Overvoltage - Enabled
Real Time Ratio Change in O/S - Enabled
Intel Turbo boost tech - Auto
Turbo power limit (watts) - set to 150
Core current limits (Amps) - set to 150
Intel Turbo boost tech - Disabled
Press Esc
System Memory Multiplier - 16.00
Press Esc

Advanced Memory Settings - Press Enter
Performance Enhance - Standard
set the next line down to quick
Channel A - Press Enter
9-9-9-28 - then command rate 2
Press Esc

Advanced Voltage Settings - Press Enter
Load-line Calibration - Enabled
Dynamic Vcore - +0.050v
Dram Voltage - 1560v

Now press F10 and press "y" then enter.

But now only increase the multiplier, for higher than 44, is that ok? I have very little idea what I'm doing. :p I haven't done my usual research into overclocking.

The first 15 minutes of Prime:

It's still going for a few more cycles I guess. I think it's meant to run 4 torture tests.

Not bad for only having two stock Antec exhaust fans set on low, no intake fans, and a 430W PSU! :p

All this overclocking has made me hungry. I'm going to continue to let this run the full hour, and I'm gonna eat. :)

Looks ok to me (although I'm new to this myself, but my OC ran perfectly for about a month now). Basically, you increase the multiplier to get the most frequency, and decrease V core to decrease power consumption/heat. So, now that your OC boots and passes PRime, you could try dropping dynamic Vcore to +0.04... If boots/works perfect - drop to +0.03 etc... Until it doesnt boot - then you up to the previous stable value.

I spoke too soon. Just got blue screened once the 3rd cycle/torture test started, so about 35 minutes in. Temps were under 68 degrees on the hottest core.

How do I make this more stable?
